I assume your buddy's shop sell mostly used cd's, you should ask someone who works at HMV how "Rap Crap" sells. You could have tried to make your point without insulting a genre of music that millions worldwide like.

In the last decade, Hip Hop has been the #1 selling music genre. It is the only genre to dethrone Country music, which was #1 for a long time. No other genre of music has been able to do this, not rock, not jazz, not classical.

Call it rap crap or whatever else you want. Bottom line is it sells.

I think the real problem with rap these days is that people don't realize the difference between the REAL hip hop artists like Kanye, Nas, Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli from the "pop rap" like 50 Cent, Diddy, Nelly, etc. People just generalize against this genre because they are only exposed to the mainstream.
