Kazaa ???

Tried downloading some songs in the last two days and when I play them I get 15 seconds of music and then a blast of static for the remainder of the song. Has the recording industry finally figured out a way to put the boot to Kazaa ??

The RIAA has always had the capability to put bogus and phony files on the p2p networks but held back because it was illegal and they knew they would get hammered in court bigtime if they did it. RIAA has been working hard and spending big bucks to make it legal to sabotage the p2p groups, so now they probably feel free to go ahead with this sabotage, feeling they can now get away with it even though the laws have yet to be changed in their favor.

Kazaa is loaded with spyware. Better to use Kazaa Lite K++, which is a newer version of Kazaa Lite, and they are both spyware free. Kazaa Lite K++ is a big improvement over basic Kazaa Lite. However this will not help you from getting bogus files if they are out there.

If worse comes to worse you will have to use the newsgroups where "everything and anything you can imagine" is available but at the cost of a subscription fee, and out of the realm of the RIAA.

I just download several files of the same song. You'll have to listen to it through. They are doing the same thing for movies. Regardless, in the end, they can make it hard, but can't stop it.

I personally won't use Kazaa as there is spyware in the Lite versions too. I usually use DC++ or Bit Torrent for sharing.

As for why people do it...I don't think myself as ripping off the artists as I am the greedy corporate bastards who are ripping off both the artists and us!

No, you're ripping off the little guys!!! This doesn't affect the big guys in the mahogany offices all that much - they just raise the prices for those that do buy to compensate. The people this hurts are the little guys on the manufacturing floor who loose their jobs because of the lost volume of CDs, DVDs, and VHS production. I use to work for one of the manufactures (who, by the way, have nothing to do with the studios other then duplicating their material for public release). When ever sales slump, it's the guys on the plant floor that looses out.

And just so you know where they fit into the scheme of things, the manufacture gets less the a dollar per CD; and less then two dollars for a DVD they manfacture.

i heard if you download any new music that has been released in 2003 you will get that buzz/scratch 15-20 sec's into the song.

i did see an ad on TV saying Napster is back. but a yrly fee

There are several versions and builds of Kazaa lite out there. Some are clean some aren't. Sounds like you got a dirty one. Dump it and try again but move up to Kazaa Lite K++ a better version, and so far clean.

I went to Kazaa to download a song and in playing it, experienced that buzzing noise that was spoken of. It was funny to see that the songs with the buzzing noise all had sources with a very high and identical bandwidth. (Gee, who could that be?) I guess one lesson is to steer clear of those.

I've downloaded corrupted files on WinMX too. But nearly everything I have downloaded from 2003 has been fine, muddy.
