More stuff that suggests dad is a far rightie.

Her father, Stuart Field, 47, has since appeared in newspaper and television interviews speaking about British culture, with Tommy Robinson asking his daughter to speak at an upcoming event in London, wearing the dress.

I've got to say that the speech - as presented - seems innocuous though and the school appears to have over reacted.
The fact that Tommy Robinson is immediately in on this is pretty damn suspicious.
Sure, it might just be opportunistic, but that does make it sound a lot more like these people were already on the radar.

I think without the context of the Dad being a far-right activist (which, by the way, you didn't provide) this isn't very damning.
It can absolutely be a dog-whistle, but on its own, it can pass.

So this all goes back to "the dad is a known figure and clarifies what is going on".

You will notice, for instance, that Frank has pulled up something about his family life , but nothing about him being a neo-Nazi.
Yes it isn't as damning.
But it does seem like a dog whistle, and I wouldn't be comfortable with those last 2 or 3 lines being said by a white kid to other minority kids on culture day.
It is unnecessarily political and sets up a false narrative and comes across as a grievance.
So I understand why the school took the actions they did.

That's the trick with dog whistles.
I think the school fucked up here, but it may have a lot to do with how well they know the dad.
It really seems he was fishing just to do the "WE WERE CANCELLED" press tour, so they probably shouldn't have stopped the girl at all.
But it may be that he had a contingency plan for either case, in which case they may well have decided it was damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I think the school should have just struck the last 2 lines from her speech and let her stay instead of sending her home.
It isn't her fault after all, but yes, it is possible he would have complained regardless.

Eh.
You can tell her to strike it, but she can deliver it anyway.
And honestly, that's the logical conclusion of the speech - we also should celebrate _my_ culture.

It really seems they knew it was a dog whistle, and they knew it because they knew the dad.
So maybe they hoped to just dodge it.

I really don't know.
It's just that, as is almost always the case with these sorts of things, there is more going on than the frothy right wants to make part of the narrative.
