Kim Mitchell on Q107

Is it just me or does anyone else find Kim Mitchell annoying? He's still working so some people must like him.

I find the endless name dropping and stories that go nowhere annoying as hell. Someone should tell him he's not funny.

Never liked his music either.

Derringer is more annoying. Clearly the morning show was in trouble because they are running an ad campaign saying that the show is "John Derringer with Maureen Holloway". She has always been on there but what used to be a one-time 10 minute bit has become an hourly giggle fest with her reading stupid Hollywood gossip that everyone else has read in the paper anyways. And how lame can your brother's career be if you get him a job on your own show? I am glad I got Sirius.

Gotta remember, he never did make it big south of the border, so he has to work like the rest of us. I am like you, I think he does an awful lot of namedropping, but maybe that is 'cause he can.......

I switched to Howard 100 when my wife got me satellite radio for Christmas

Yes, I agree. Never was a big fan of the Mo Holloway thing and now she's on all morning.

Derringer used to be good on the afternoon show. Now that he's off the Jack Daniels and cocain, he's not as funny.

The name dropping wouldn't be so bad if the stories were funny or interesting. They never are.

I think in a lot of cases Kim was on the outside looking in during those Rock and Roll parties. I can picture Eric Clapton saying to Kim, "hey you, get me a beer will ya?"

l don't mind Derringer or Mitchell, but l can't stand Maureen Holloway.
She is totally unfunny, her laugh is so contrived. l tune to another station when she comes on. What a stupid handle "Auntie Mo", gimme a break!!!!

I don't listen often to Kim, but when he interviews a fellow musician (he had Andy Summers on one afternoon) he is good. He can ask questions a non-musician wouldn't, and get them to answer in a way that tells you a little more.

Hey, if you don't like Kim, he is an acquired taste. I find the play list annoying at the Q, not the DJ's, and Auntie Mo can be wicked funny at times. You guys disagree, but I will say good radio is an impossibility in Toronto, the market has never had anything that is engrossing because there are too many commercials, traffic breaks and god knows what else to mess with the rhythm. Satellite is the way to go....

Kim Mitchell appears to be a nice guy but he tries too hard and it just doesn't work.

Randy Bachman hosts a show on CBC radio Saturday nights and tells great anecdotes about the Guess Who and his friendship with other musicians. He comes across much better. I remember him telling a great story about being caught in a bar in a Chicago ghetto with a drunk Burton Cummings. The only way they got out alive is explaining they wrote the Junior Walker and the All-Stars hit "These Eyes," and then played the song on a juke box.

Derringer is a complete write-off all caught up in his perceived self-importance.

I dunno, I like Kim Mitchell, and Derringer, and especially Maureen Holloway.

If anything is happening, it's Ryan is getting squeezed out by Bill Hayes and Maureen Holloway.

Derringer is a very smart dude and has a memory like an elephant. I find that he tells these little anecdotes that make you go, "hmm, I know what you're talking about"

Derringer is a little to right wing for my taste, but he's probably one of the more intelligent DJ's on the radio right now. That said, he strikes me as one self centred SOB. I don't know how his wife handles his constant motorcycle vacations with the boys in California while she stays home with 2 daughters. He strikes me as a 45 year old teenager in a lot of ways.

As far as Maureen Holloway is concerned, she only does one segment of Hollywood gossip. The rest is just her and Derringer talking away. I get a real kick out of her personality and I think that this is why they added another time slot with her - because people love her. I always picture her on the phone in her nightie playing with herself to tell you the truth since she does her schtick from home and also phones into a few other radio stations across Canada that are owned by the same company.

The thing that does suck about Q107 is the play list. How many times can you play "Sweet Home Alabama" for christ's sake until you can't stand it any more. Please, Rock and Roll did not end in 1979.

I can't even listen to 102.1 anymore - ever since Humble and Fred left, it's never been the same.

Gotta agree derringer is annoying, too much useless talk and not funny, just listen for the classic rock but the music is hard to find during his show. They play one song then ramble on forever.

I agree, Q107 plays the same music over and over. Q107 even has to abide to the Canadian content rules, but they play the same Canadian songs over and over. Rush has a billion hits, but Q107 only plays a few of them, if I hear Spirit of the Radio, or Tom Saywer one more time I'm going to lose it. Why can't Q107 play something like The Temples of Syrinx for once? It's a hit and it's Canadian! mix it up a bit Q.
