I agree, Q107 plays the same music over and over. Q107 even has to abide to the Canadian content rules, but they play the same Canadian songs over and over. Rush has a billion hits, but Q107 only plays a few of them, if I hear Spirit of the Radio, or Tom Saywer one more time I'm going to lose it. Why can't Q107 play something like The Temples of Syrinx for once? It's a hit and it's Canadian! mix it up a bit Q.
I noticed they're playing The Tragically Hip more and more. That's a good thing IMO.

As an aside, I saw the Hip last week in Hamilton and they were in their usual fine form. It's the 8th time I've seen them but I've never seen Gordie as wound up as he was that night. What a front man!

I like Kim Mitchell. As a guitarist he is more interesting than 100 Eric Claptons, and as a songwriter he is more interesting than 100 Tragically Shits. And he doesn't have the big rock star ego (OK, he isn't truly a big rock star anyway).

I think declaring his songwriting more interesting than The Tragically Hip's is foolish. At least lyrically, the Hip's music is more interesting. Has Kim Mitchell ever used a metaphor in his lyrics or does "I got a hangover" mean something other than the obvious?

The stupidity of saying Kim Mitchell's guitar playing is worth a hundred Eric Clapton's speaks for itself.

To each his own I guess.

Personally, I wouldn't cross the street to see Kim Mitchell.

Kim's boring. . if he was just some average joe, his ass would've been fired long ago. . the worst part is that part of his deal with Q107 is that they play his songs (all three of them) all day long. . .SUCKS!!!!

I'm sure he did alright with his record sales but for him to have to work, man his ex must have screwed him royally.
The best thing I like about Kim was his ex, man was she a stunner. Gorgeous, blonde and everyone stopped in their tracks when she walked, that was in the early 80's when I knew her, she worked in my office, prior to marrying Kim. Don't know what she looks like now, but she easily was Playboy material in her early 20's. I followed Kim because of her. :D , Kim was ugly to me, with his long, few strands of hair sticking out of his baseball cap. lol

You think he's bad on the radio? I used to do security work for him at concerts years ago. Off stage, he's really just the same as he is on the radio. He's a really down-to-earth kinda guy - not some stuck-up ass that thinks the sun shines out of his ass like some musicians can be.

At the very least, he has more talent than Tiffany...wait a minute...that isn't saying too much, eh?

Even If you're somewhat famous and have money, it increases your chances getting a hot chick. Others like myself don't need money to influence the ladies.

And I remember his ugly OPP baseball cap.

Kim is a phenomenal guitarist and songwriter. Highly underrated. His work in Max Webster along with the lyrics of Pye Dubois was sheer genius. And no, I am not Kim. :p

Kim Mitchell has always been a great songwriter with and without P dubois. Dubois was a psych assistant at the Clarke Institute.
The Tragically Hip dont write songs they just have bad jams, shitty vocals and no melodys. The T.H. are just a consertive ploy to recruit young college kids to be right wing wack jobs. They where created and managed by Allan Gregg owner of Decima reasearch, The Song Corp. and Management Trust. Financed by the consertive party of Canada. Sad but true.

I read that they pulled it at random from a phone book.

Dude you can't get all angry just because someone has different musical tastes to you. But speaking for myself, I have 500+ albums and dig everything from Ravel to Suicidal Tendencies, but the Hip is about as interesting to me as a car alarm.

Lookinforitallthetime, what i said about the hip is true. Decema used the hip to get access to a younger demographic. Allan Gregg needed a way to gain access to canadian college kids, a demographic that the PCs couldn't get a stronghold of. It worked and the young conservitaves are now growing in numbers. In return the band got tour support, video support, lots of descretionary money and a very savy management team. Musicaly I find them completly bland. But it is fascinating how the Conservitave party used a rock band to broaden their support base. This is not a conspirocy theory, its true. Gregg is now in Washington working for Bush. The band fired Greggs underling Jake Gold who is now a Canadian Idol judge.

First of all, I'm not angry.

Secondly, I realize people have different musical tastes and respect those whose tastes are different from mine. For example, I respect that TTH is not your cup of tea.

But, did you actually read they guy's post? He claims TTH "are just a consertive ploy to recruit young college kids to be right wing wack jobs." and "Financed by the consertive party of Canada."

I called him a wack job because of his obvious psychosis, not because of his mucical tastes.

Now grow up.

Alright blackdog.

If what you say is true and TTH is supported by the CPOC, it's just another reason for me to like them.
