Why?.... Surely you have to be legally responsible if you shoot someone thinking that you have drawn a taser when in fact it's a pistol. It's about as clear negligence as you can have.Wrong.
It is a tough one. Clearly she made a terrible mistake, the video is right there for all to see. This is a tough one.
It was clearly an accident but sometimes we have to pay for the accidents we caused. She is guilty under the law however I hope the judge has some discretion in the sentencing.
She wasn't found guilty? Thanks for clearing that up.Wrong.
Come on, man. A "momentary lapse of attention" is a defence even to a careless driving, let alone to a dangerous driving causing death. You literally need a prolonged period of non-attention for a conviction. https://www.mcdougallgauley.com/insights/when-momentary-lapse-behind-wheel-criminal"I got confused when I saw the little girl on a scooter and thought the accelerator was a brake" is not a legal defence to vehicular homicide. It's sad as fuck. But it's not a defence.
She was a cop for 26 years and never used her weapon. I don't believe she intended to kill him. It was a mistake.Why?.... Surely you have to be legally responsible if you shoot someone thinking that you have drawn a taser when in fact it's a pistol. It's about as clear negligence as you can have.

She had 26 years to learn to differentiate. That's why she was up on charges. She was a cop for 26 years and never used her weapon. I don't believe she intended to kill him. It was a mistake.
I agree. It was a mistake. I feel sorry for her. But it's still negligent homicide. Someone is dead. She killed him. It's fucked up, but there you go.She was a cop for 26 years and never used her weapon. I don't believe she intended to kill him. It was a mistake.
Whereas why did this guy get to walk? After being put on paid leave and then being given separation pay?

That's the thing about the law. It applies whether or not you kill a saint or an asshole.Strange outcome, it all happened when she was trying to apprehend a criminal trying to get away. In a life and death situation under stress that no one here has ever experienced she made a mistake. As a result the criminal died.
In my opinion this is where it should end, regardless if the criminal was white, asian, hispanic or black, same for the cop. He gambled by committing a felony and lost his life. Had a warrant out for his arrest as well. Better him than an innocent family driving home.
We cannot ask police officers to sacrifice their lives for us and then hang them out to dry the second they fuck up.
What a stupid remark...He was a thug and destined for that outcome sooner or later.
To correct you...the kid got pulled over because he had an air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror, wow what a thug, the nerve of him...this was not a life and death situation until Potter pulled her gun...she made a mistake that can not be corrected and there are consequences for that mistake.Strange outcome, it all happened when she was trying to apprehend a criminal trying to get away.
