It was $30 a transaction in 2004 or 2005 when I was there. A friend or mine saw the rates above the ATM just before my transaction. So one of us took out money for three of us so it was "only" $10 each.
I was in Vancouver earlier this year I couldn't find an ATM

It is the $12 cokes and $23 hamburgers that is killing Vegas.

The waste of energy building that city and keeping those strip lights on all night and air conditioned buildings so fools can gamble is demented

I would park my truck at the huge casino but found gambling boring. It is very repetitive. The warning signs inside tell you to bet with your head not over it but only betting over your head is exciting but extremely foolish.

History will view such extravagance like we view the ugly medival extravagance of nobility as peasants went hungry

I only thing I liked about Vegas was going to some of the interesting conventions and trade shows

Reasons: first sign of an upcoming recession.
Reasons: US Labour statistics are terrible right now. So bad that Trump fired the person because he did not want that truth to be exposed. People don’t have the disposable income.

Patron is talking about Capitalism in general. A good capitalist will sell you the rope he gets hanged on if there is enough profit in it.

In the U.S., no one stops anything based on rational economic analysis or even common sense. Stops happen when real declines occur. Kind of like a dumb dog who eats until he/she throws up, wags its tail, and eventually overeats again.

The saddest thing about the human condition is capitalism is the best "ism" we can devise. Now that we have it we could not rid of it even if we wanted to. The course of humanity is in the hands of capitalists like Duck Donald and Elon Musk and religion instead of great thinkers, philosophers and rational science. Scary thought.

Was planning a trip to Vegas with some friends in February, it had been in the works for about 2 years but we're obviously not going to do that now. Taking a trip to London instead.
Same here Vegas got to expensive with the friends I was going with so we ended up going to an all inclusive resort instead.

A Canadian living in Vegas explains it all. I like his unbiased opinions, but he shies away from Trump's policies as being a driving force for Vegas's decline.

Even if Vegas deals with the insane room rates, resort fees and outrageous food and bev, the next big issue is that "Vegas has zero appeal" to the younger generations. They have no desire for fabricated experiences.

For myself, I have been priced out and prefer to take my vacation dollars elsewhere...

This guy makes an interesting point. He says a lot of the insane price increases have to do with hotels, casinos etc trying to raise prices, reduce costs while riding the inertia of post Covid Vegas tourism...so they could sell out to investor funds etc before the inevitable crash Vegas saw coming.
