I had to take the subway this weekend and I definitely tried to be more aware of my surroundings.

Though I was a little buzzed when I left.

The chances of something bad happening is remote but definitely not nil. That guy standing/sitting next to you could be insane.

I occasionally took the NYC subway when I used to travel there but almost always took a cab. The problem was many of the cab drivers didn't speak English well and didn't actually know the city any better than I.

Anytime walking downtown streets or subways you need to be aware of your surroundings, more so after dark.

This is why I limit the use of the TTC to be during the daytime strictly for my safety

It's mainly just the express bus that goes straight to my work location



I've I'm going anywhere at night I lean towards grabbing an Uber instead

Kudos to police. They caught the suspect. Apparently, she used a knife in one of the assaults.

It doesn't matter where in the world you are. Anything to do with train or bus there are people around doing dumb stuff.

Japan had this issue decades ago hence why they installed barriers. It looks like we are following them.

As I said before, legalize pepper spray ASAP.
Most women would feel a lot safer if they were allowed to carry pepper spray on them.
It might not stop all assaults, but it will stop some and might even save a life or two.

Also pepper spray is legal in all 50 US States. So why not here??!!

Why?? If video is from the US then pepper spray is legal.
Plus she is defending herself from someone with a dangerous weapon (hammer)

She's actually lucky to get pepper sprayed. Because if she would have seriously hit the other girl with that hammer it was jail time awaiting her...
