Larau Secord, Lindt and all the other high-end chocolate is inferior for the simply reason that their most heavily used ingredient is sugar, not cocoa. Sugar is cheaper than cocoa and that is why it is used in abundance over the cocoa and milk ingredients. If you look at the Costco truffles, they use the most expensive ingredients in higher proportions than the cheaper ingredients, which means you are paying for the quality. But again, 2kg (said 1kg before, but you actually get 2 1kg boxes together) of chocolate costs $10.99 and it taste amazingly better than the Laura Secords etc (IMO of course). It is called Truffles de France, is $10.99 for 2kg and you could give it to 2 ladies, or even 4 ladies if you really wanted because the big box is broken down into 2 1kg boxes and then when you open up the separate 1kg boxes, you get 2 gold foil and sealed bags of 500g chocolates. So, in the end, you could end up giving these chocolates out for less than $6 or $3, depending on how you decide to break them up.
