IMO Lindros could be a good addition if the circumstances were right, i.e. the Leafs give up very little because a)the Rangers may be looking to dump salary and b) his health is a big risk. Not that he's proven anything yet, but even Antropov would be too much.

Don't look for Lindros to be MVP calibre because he's not anymore. He would be more of a high quality role player, size, strength and a touch around the net. I'd use him as a third-liner and he'd be highly motivated playing in Toronto.

Lindros could be picked up for next to nothing and would be awesome with Antropov and Poni. It would remind me of the Legion of Doom Line from Philly.

I think picking up Lindros would be worth it. He wants to play for Toronto.

Playing for your home team that you watched as a kid. He may become a totally different player. I would hate going to the rink everyday to play on a crappy team.

For all of you mad that Gonchar went for nothing, Washington was asking an unreasonable price from Toronto and I commend Fergie for sticking to his guns and not caving in to this crap. Just because he went for nothing to Boston doesn't mean that Toronto was being offered the same deal. If you look at all of Washington's moves they gave away big names and salaries for nothing yet they were asking a lot from Toronto.

I like Leetch...he's not washed up and he'll fit in nicely in the top 4 D. This is a vetran team not unlike that of Detroit so there are a lot of intangibles.

Leetch play 25/30 minutes a game.

The top 4 Defencemen will play mostly in the playoffs.

Klee and Leetch

Kaberle and McCabe

Berehowsky and Pilar ( limited playing time but there stable)

NO BERG..

Couldn't say it better myself!

The Lindros idea is nice as a 3rd line center, and if they create a contract around his injurious nature and future, like they were considering a couple seasons ago when we courted him,it would be awesome. If we have to give up quality players or coin, it doesn't look good at all.

Lindros ??? Is anyone taking this serious ???? His head is thinner than an eggshell. I can't believe anyone is taking this seriously. He's had 8 career concussions. Why not Greg Adams while you're at it ?

Lindros is not a saviour, but if they can get him dirt cheap there's no downside to it. If he's healthy the team will be better. If not, they've lost nothing.

My only concern with Leetch is I have visions of him going down early with an injury like all their late additions last year did. I hope I'm wrong.

Murphy wasn't really a bad move like some of the others that were washed up. If you recall, he had some good (but not great) years with Detroit after he left Toronto. For whatever reasons he did lousy here, but he still had some good hockey left in him.

Its good to see that the leafs did something, even if it turns out to be a bad move at least you can't complain that they sit there and do nothing lets just hope that the team stays healthy

Ross are you new

Leetch has a 1 year left on his contract. 6.6 million next year.

Dude if your going to talk about hockey, know the facts.

Hey Shack, I totally agree on Lindros. He will cost almost nothing and if he gets hurt so what.

I don't care what people say. He is Soft but when he plays he can play. Just look at the stats. He averages 30 goals a year.

He is a solid hockey player that loves Toronto.

ranking 654th in the league does not put him at the very bottom... 877th would, which is where Rico Fata sits with a negative 39 (mind you, he does play for pittsburgh).

Yes, Leetch's +/- is on the negative side, but also consider the fact that he plays for a team that gives up more goals than they score, and he's on the ice A LOT.
Ross,
You're getting smoked on this board ! Whoever said he's at the very bottom.
654th sucks !!!
Yeah its not his fault its the team's fault cuz he plays for a shitty team. That's no excuse. There are tons of better defensemen on shitty teams who are miles ahead of Leetch.
Good pick !!

Ross has a point. Pansey

But Leech has 2 in the first period.

Time will only tell....

LINDROS LINDROS LINDROS

you can't go wrong. Give them a draft pick..

With free agency the draft only helps you with trading.
Once in a blue moon a first rounder becomes a superstar..

I know hockey... Trust me..

I've dipped into a nice merlot tonight... I really have to stop..

Leetch's debut:

3 power play assists. Pretty good. Too early to judge the trade but for the Maple Leafs sake things got off to a good start.

this trade reminds of the Leafs picking up Housley last year

why the did'nt pick up Gonchar baffles me.
K...I'm taking back this comment :p

Leetch looked great tonight even though the Islanders played flat.
Hope there is more to come!

forget about lindros. Sportnet reports he has a partial tear in his rotator cuff and is out for at least 4 to 6 weeks maybe the remainder of the season.

Of course, Leetch isn't at the absolute bottom of the League numbnuts, but being 654/877 puts him with the bottom dwellers like Ramzi Abid and Tomas Kloucek.

Sure he had a good start last night but I can name you tons of players including some Leafs I can think of who played well in their first games. The Islanders were also really flat.

HMM I guess the bottom dweller leetch sucks so bad...I mean, how many points did he get last night during his FIRST skate with the leafs, what was it, 3? 4?

TOo bad he isn't 100% then maybe he'd have gotten 6 points!

The Eastern Conference race is going to be a dog fight down the stretch run to the playoffs.

We still have 5 days left before the trade deadline and a number of players still yet to be moved. Let us wait until then and see what team we feel has made the right trades etc.

As for Leetch's game last night, pretty much what I expected from him. I still think Toronto overpaid for him ( should have been 1 prospect and 2 draft picks or 2 prospects and 1 draft pick). However, that point is a mute fact as of now.

Let us now wait and see how events unfold over the next few days and weeks. We could possibly be witnessing the last Stanley Cup playoff series for what could amount to be a couple of years.

Whereever I am now
**sigh** the Leafs picked up a 36 year old Defenceman (a quality one at that) But Mr. Leetch's 10 year old stanely cup ring isn't really cause for the leafs owners to start shopping for a good deal on rings and cheap engraving (for the cup) ...
