When asked about tanking ..

No way, nohow.

“Ain’t happening,” was the way Brian Burke put it.

Brian Burke says losing games to get a higher draft pick is "not fair to our fans or our customers or our sponsors."

I guess missing the playoffs for 7 years in a row is far :biggrin1:

I think that you are ignoring the great Leaf achievement this year!!! They were competitive right up to the All Star break, normally they are done by Christmas. That is huge progress!!

I am sure Ron Wilson is watching the Leafs games with a glass of red wine (or scotch) in one hand and a huge cigar in the other laughing.
He is still getting paid and he doesn't have to pick which goalie to play.

I'm standing on a Yonge Street corner right now, where are you guys? Where are the damn floats?

It's still his fault.

There is no doubt he shares in the blame, Burke deserves much of the blame as well, no to mention the players. There is plenty of blame to go around, I just hope Burke (the hockey genius) takes his share.

I think Carlye may want a mulligan for his 2011/12 season ... So far he is 8 - 16 - 5 ... I think the players have been given so many excuses for failure ie the coach, trading deadline , media , goaltending and so they are not held accountable for the shit ass record ..

The parade route is actually along Bay street (yes I know it has been a long time since the last parade)
So perhaps you missed the floats

It would be a serious breach to admit to tanking games, punishable by suspension and severe fines.

You'll never ever see a coach, GM, ownership admit to intentionally losing. Which is why I hate sports television. Did the reporter actually think Burke was gonna say "Oh, yeah, we're trying to throw these last 12 in the hopes we get in the lottery."

Granted, it's not a great draft season this year. But there's a lot of decent power/big forwards available early. I would say we don't need a D.. we should let some of the youth try to mature. How about a nice 6' 200 lb Centre.. either way, not like they're gonna be on the Kessel line next year..

Last year Mr Burke put a spin on things and emphasized how Leafs ended the season . Well look forward to hearing the spin he puts on 11 straight losses at the Air Canada Centre in front of your paying public .

Open your eyes. This was the #1 team in the Eastern Conference 6 weeks into the season. Of course they are tanking.

Ironically, they should have been doing this for the last 6 years and they'd be in 1st place during the last 6 weeks of the season!

They won last night with Ben Scrivens. Is that who they needed the last couple of months?

Or maybe a 3 man rotation?

I'm a Leafs fan. Looking forward to see what they get in the draft.

6 week into a season is nothing. (Had they even been humiliated by Boston for the first time in the year at that point?)
Their fast start was fluke

Nobody in that organization purposely tanked, in order to get a higher draft pick

Exactly how do you gain your in-depth insight into the inner workings of the team?
