Toronto
Goalie Depth:

Jonas Gustavsson (future trade bait)
Jussi Rynnas (Toronto's 6th round choice (158th overall) in the 2008 Entry Draft )
Ben Scrivens (signed as free agent)
Mark Owuya (signed as free agent)
Why don't you list every other team's 2nd to 5th goalies.

The last good or considered top 5 best NHL goalie Leafs had ever had as a starter was Curtis Joseph. Whatever happened to Vesa Toskala ? I would call him up instead of Marty Turco. Leafs are ignorant towards drafting a top goalie.

Wrong.

Eddie Belfour (Hall of Famer), something Curtis Joseph can only wish for.

He wasn't considered as one of the top 5 goalies at the time because it was washed up and that's why he ended up with the Leafs. Cujo was in his prime and there a lot better players who didn't get into the Hall of famer because having a Stanley Cup ring is a great credential.

Ed Belfour may not have been 1 of the top 5 goaltenders in the NHL when with Toronto, but he was still a better goalie with the Leafs than Curtis Joseph. A quick crunch of the numbers show this.

Ed Belfour with Maple Leafs: (3 seasons) g.a.a. 2.56 ave. wins/season 31 save % .911
Curtis Joseph with Maple Leafs: (5 seasons) g.a.a. 2.65 ave. wins/season 27.6 save % .903

Not much difference in numbers

In each instance, whose numbers are better?

Ah, that's right, the Hall of Famer, who according to you, whose career was in its twilight, washed up, while Joseph was in the prime of his career.

Let's rekindle this thread. Giguere is 8-4-0 in 14 games this season and is currently ranked second among NHL goaltenders in GAA (1.79) and fourth in save percentage (.934). Jason Reimer got pulled tonight from the Florida game. Another Brian Burke mess up. Ron Wilson's new contract is going to create a new losing streak.

You guys kill me. It's people like you that make no one want to play for any of the Toronto franchises.

First of all, it's James not Jason.

Second:

Do these look like horrible stats to you?

Reimer's last 3 games (2-0-1, 2.27, .940)

Do you expect him to win every single game? Everyone has bad nights.

I think alot of guys need to spend some time between the pipes to really understand goaltending. Some of the best goalies in the nhl are on the worst teams, and look worse on paper then they actually are.

We do not expect him to win every night but on the other hand, we didn't expect him to lose to a team like Florida.

Are you sure James Reimer is not spelled Remier?

It's plain and simple the rest of the league has figured out Reimer. It's back to a reality check and I knew this was going to happen. Ron Wilson was correct about Jean Sebastian Giguere should be the number 1 goalie.
