Anyone try them yet?

Saw some LEDs at Sam's Club Buffalo NY for the first time.
i.e. they claim to use only 1½ watts of electricity but give light ≡ a 40 watt bulb which makes them even more efficient than compact fluorescent bulbs. Plus they claim to last ~15 years.

Seems they don't deliver the rated light output and lighting is directional.

Here's some reviews off Sam's site.
They come in either candelabra or standard base bulbs.
Price was $15 for 3 light bulbs.

The Philips units I bought suck dirty canal water. Not even efficient as night lights. A waste of money, in my opinion. Stick to the CF units, even though they consume more power, they are still better than incandescent for light output versus power consumption.

Also, LED sources are directional by nature. To diffuse the light, you would suffer an efficiency penalty, as well.
