Hopefully Zeppelin are hugely fined, bankrupting all of them and that way, they will need to do that reunion tour after all.

It would earn a billion dollars and I'd be there with bells on to listen to them rip off Willie Dixon and Spirit (whoever the hell they are) and do it so much better.

easy to do when your hand is in the cookie jar...............and BTW....there is a difference between covering a song, and lifting, melodies, guitar riffs, and then going on with your life pretending that your not a rip off artist..
I know the difference between covering a song and lifting it. To me, they were strongly influenced by such songs, but when you hear them, they don't sound the same.

They still are worthy of that Kennedy Center Honor. Led Zep made many other songs. You're just bellyaching for nothing.

I didn't mean to sugar coat it. Have you heard the original? It doesn't sound the same. In any event, it's not just Led Zep who are guilty, being my point.
as a teen i heard that song, dozens of times.lol............and harrison was as guilty as sin.............

now here is a guy that is so enamored with the caterwalling of Robert Plant.............that he has the audacity to actually believe those hacks are more talented than Willie Dixon, and dont think for one minute Kirk that just because you aint heard of someone doesnt invalidate the fact that they ripped him off..............usually you are not a pompuous ass, but in this case you are..

I've been called worse things by better people. (I even sampled that quote actually.....)

Love Led Zeppelin. Don't care if they copied a few notes here or there. They are still brilliant.

the beach boys ripped off Charles Manson who was a struggling artist who befriended the beach boys before he turned mass murderer
Actually just Dennis Wilson and maybe he felt justified - the Manson family lived in his house sponging $100,000 and crashing an uninsured luxury car. Dennis introduced him to Terry Melcher who suggested that he would produce Manson's music and maybe do a movie about the family. About the time Dennis severed ties - so did Terry Melcher but not before he had Manson over to his house. Apparently Manson was furious at Melcher so it was no co-incidence that Melcher's house was selected for Helter Skelter. Unknown to Manson - Melcher & his girlfriend Candice Bergen had moved out and Polanski & Tate had moved in.

Okay - off topic - couldn't resist.

There will be no LZ reunion tour, Robert Plant can't hit the notes anymore and he doesn't want to embarrass himself. Unlike Brian Johnson he wants to keep his dignity.

Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters created the Mississippi sound as bandmates with the Chicago Blues All-Stars in the 1940's and 50's. They played in countless "chokeNpukes" across the USA until younger artists like Bo Didley, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino took up their cause and created Rock n Roll. At times change comes swift, John Lennon decided to end The Beatles after hearing this (the Psychidelic Era was over).

i would have more respect for your love of Zeppilin, if you and other fans didnt minimize their serial stealing...saying they copied a few notes here and there, is like saying a tornado is a sudden gust of wind..

Alan Freed had a lot to do with promoting those early black rock and rollers. There were a lot of cover songs where white artists sang black artist hits for white audiences - almost all Pat Boone early hits were covers of black hits. Alan Freed insisted on bringing the original black artists with the original hits.

As I said before who cares if they stole some songs. They did make some compensation even if it was because they had to. Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands ever.

Led Zeppelin owe Willie Dixon a huge debt of gratitude. I saw him live @ The El Mocambo on two occasions with The Chicago Blues All Stars. For the second show the band almost made exclusively of his sons. He was a dedicated stand up bass man, he never played the bass guitar.

Theft is theft and they did it knowingly. You obviously don't know (or care) about artists who try to make a living off their own creations. Real nice for those who say "so what" about theft until they are the victim, then the story changes.

who should care?..you should care.because you are putting cheaters on a pedestal............and you are inadvertantly lowering the standards of rock and roll by describing them as one of the greatest rock bands ever..im old school...we should demand integrity from rock idols and not trivialize music by stating "who cares if they stole some songs"..........never lower the musical bar..........................and i know you said it before, but you are still unconvincing...

T.O.
George Harrison plagiarized My Sweet Lord to some extent.
Actually, to great extent. So much so that he conceded and was forced to forfeit royalties from that song.

they shamelessly "borrowed" Chuck Berry,s Sweet Little Sixteen, and re invented it to Surfin USA..........without any shout out to Berry..
By that point, the progression popularized by Berry had become so normalized in rock music, that it didn't warrant any credit.

(If we were to take things to an extreme, the entire first albums by the Ramones and Clash would have given credit to Berry et al.)

Don't be stupid.. the Stones ALWAYS gave credit to the original songwriters.. Even invited them to perform on shows they were guests off back in the day in a way to tell 60s white american kids: "Hey this is who we listened to.."
Credit yeah. Money no. (Just ask Robert Johnson's estate.) And lip service don't pay the rent as easily as a royalty cheque does.

If they did that Kim Mitchell would probably play more Max Webster songs so he can collect more royalty cheques.
Quoted for the truth.

I think they play KM more than any band out there. Probably have it written into his contract even.
