That's right, let's blame Democrats for the falling economy and rising oil prices. I mean, they were there when it happened, so they must be responsible. And then he goes on to talk about how the Democrats have a spending problem? As if the Republicans don't? This man does not seem credible.

Ah, but you're forgetting the real moral issue here: he did sleep with that woman!

The guy is an idiot and you are an idiot too if you think that the price of oil depends on who controls the US congress.

There are lots of problems caused by the US government. One of them is the continuing inability of Americans to live within their means. Republican administrations have more than any others been responsible for that tragedy. (Democrats have tried hard to spend as irresponsibly but not quite matched.)

The price of oil is not one of the things that the US govt. controls beyond the extent to which it raises it by starting wars in the Middle East.

Of course it doesn't...but I wanted to make a point..the left pundits here have been trying to blame the economy on GWB.....neither GWB or the congress ahould get blame or credit.
However if you belive that they actually do have influence over this, then you need to play this blame game both ways...;)

Heaven, definately Heaven
The Democrats did not impeach Bush Jr. and Dick Cheney. The result was a crushing recession. If the recession was coming anyway, at least the could have impeached Bush Jr. and Dick Cheney, even if they think they would have lost. Nothing was done without an impeachment, nothing would have been done with an impeachment........except the truth would have come out.

Letterman had it right. He basically said Elliot Spitzer was threatened to be impeached if he didn't resign as Gov of NY. Wow, a Democract being impeached again for an extra marital affair. Good Times are here again.

So the Dems couldn't impeach Bush Jr. 'cuz he wasn't Client #01?

Oh the recession was coming anyway, and was sure to be coming so long as the US and its various arms of government collectively did nothing about the fact that Americans live beyond their means.

It's a bit rich to single out the current president when those same policies have been advanced by consecutive Democrat and Republican administrations. I suppose you could blame him for carrying on with the nonsense.

I think the current D controlled Congress has the same control of the US economy as the POTUS does... which is to say none at all.

Why do you continue to list tax revenues on
your signature line? Seems counter to your
post.
For all the idiots that think the tax cuts caused the deficit.

Simple. I don't have to respond.

Prognosis doesn't count. Reality is.

Exactly.

A bleeding federal treasury is an unsightly tragedy.

Wars do that since they're into command and control.

Its doomed more than a few empires.

Its called overreaching and anti-history.
I hope you are not calling Iraq a real war??? It is a step above Panama...but way below Nam...don't ya think so?

It's a low intensity conflict. Still a committed and capable enemy, still a war.

Rule by Democrats?

Frasier, you're seeing things in all black and white again, which I know is your bent and makes you feel comfortable. Let me put it plainly in a way you can appreciate. In US politics, one party with a slim majority in Congress against an opposition party's lame duck President equals perfect deadlock. Neither side can get anything done. Neither side rules. Clear enough?

Thanks for the history lesson.... ....however this congress is using this an excuse for not doing anything...find consensus and find a way to do it..isn't that what politics and leadership is all about?

Currently both parties are out of touch....

Tell it to your conservative friends in the Senate. The Republicans have set a record for forcing a cloture vote on legislation or threatening to filibuster. Since it takes 60 votes to pass cloture, the GOP has managed to effectively shut down the Senate, setting a new two year term record in only one year. George for his part has over the years set his own record for signing statements, many times over any previous President. Signing statements are used to agree to accept legislation while choosing to ignore the bits he doesn't like, which many times is most of it. George's overuse of this tactic is quite frankly an embarrassment. It's not an excuse frasier, it's unfortunately the reality of how things currently operate.
