Lime Wire - I take it back

I've just finished uninstalling Lime Wire, and take back what I previously said about it being a decent product for file sharing.

The sllllllllllllllow connection times were bad enough - lately, it takes me at least 15 mins to d/l a song, and I'm on cable - but the last straw was the repeated notifications from Zone Alarm Security Suite's Identity Lock feature. Lime Wire was repeatedly requesting access to my pin numbers - thankfully, ID lock caught and blocked the access attempts.

I give up. I'm just going to buy an iTunes Store card.

I just saw Best Buy advertising them.

I also nabbed one of those temporary use credit cards when I was in Michigan, so I have something disposable I can use to order things on line with, without worrying about my security.

Any file sharing system is prone to hacking, spyware, adware and general corruption. I simply accept those as given, run Norton Antivirus, and regularly clean my system with Norton, Ad-aware and Spybot.

It takes some maintenance, but Limewire does work. Download speeds have more to do with the scarcity of the song on the system than anything else.

Any suggestions as to the best file sharing site out there? Morpheus? or something new?

It really depends on what kind of files you're looking for. I can suggest two. For predominantly music, try SoulSeek. For everything else, get yourself BitTorrent and find some Torrent sites (my suggestion, Youceff Torrents). I don't have the URLs handy, so Google them and give them a shot.

NNTP is still the best method of obtaining files, although you usually have to subscribe to a service, since most commercial ISP's miss too many attachments. Forte Agent allows you to verify the authenticity of whatever you want to download.

Have used this p2p on occasion. It works pretty well but may be hard to find now but worth hunting for. It is spyware-free.

I use KDX and the KDX network. Many of the servers are membership based but it takes time to schmooze your way into a membership but on many of the private servers i get between 350 k/s to 580 k/s with sympatico.ca high speed.
Other then that news groups and torrent.

Limewire works like a charm for me. Do you have the latest version?
Bud Plug is correct, if you maintain it it will work fine!
