What browser are you using?

You may need to update or reinstall the appropriate plugin for QT. For example, under Firefox, you can go to Edit -> Preferences, then "Downloads" and "View and Edit Actions", and see what's registered to handle ".mov" files.

Got a similar question.
Been playing around with Linux Fedora Core and was wondering if there is a player similar to Winamp for Linux. On XP I use Winamp a lot for music, internet radio, video and movie files but it looks like Linux doesn't support it. What's a good player to use on Linux for all this?
Fedora came with 2 Mozilla browsers and I added my favorite browser Opera to the mix.

XMMS is a free software audio player very similar to Winamp.

or

he is laid out well.

I think it has something to with the amount of players installed.
This weekend I will remove all ans start with VLC
then Kaffeine then Mplayer , totem movieplayer and Mythtv.

Before all were isntalled and worked fine but then the updates screwwed everything up.

XMMS (as mentioned above) is a good choice. There's also the VLC Media Player, and without checking I believe (Totem) Movie Player will handle network audio streams as well.

I admit I don't know WTF you guys are talking about but Linux geek talk gets me hot..... now I'm gonna go touch myself LOL

I know the Linux with the green chameleon looking thing is popular with my hacker buddy, SUSE I think and it has a program that allows for you to run windows programs on it......

You're hacker buddy is using the wrong OS for hacking. A true hacker would use Slackware. Which is mainly command line driven. Or he can use Backtrack 2 which is a GUI/KDE based on slackware and you can hack every wifi in you area. Opnesuse would require alot of work for him to isntall all the hackers programs.

My problem is I have to many Players have to use only what I need and depending on the situation. TO watch movies on my computer VLC, and Totem would be enoug.
But to watch on TV output then I need MythTV.

I am sure it is the updates that screw me up. Now I have all the video DRIVERs locked with no updates what so ever. I will do the same for the video this weekend.

XMMS, had it all along

Thanks for the tips on XMMS.
I was just getting ahead of myself here.
It turns out I had XMMS player all along in Fedora but didn't get to it yet in the manual I was using.....to busy doing other stuff with Linux.

So far I like Linux. At this point it does everthing as promised. What surprised me most is how it's faster on the internet than XP. Did some speed tests over several days that confirmed Linux is faster. I have a cable modem and everything just loads faster when using Linux compared to using XP.

He makes 300K a year as a "white hat" hacker and travels the world as a "security expert" and most recently denied entry into the US because they think he's a spy LOL .... so I think he's doing just fine with whatever he uses :D

Might just be my mistake, he LOVES talking about linux and trashing windows and he loves to talk about his work in detail and I just kinda get that glazed eye look as I have NO idea what's he talking about..... he's gay so I can't really get off on his technobabble LOL That being knowing him he's got a lot of different systems for lots of different things, last count he had 2 laptops, 2 pcs and a mac *sigh* I always joke I don't even know how many bits are in a byte (when I made this joke I didn't know there were bits in a byte LOL) and yet I still can't remember the answer :) He used to drag me to 2600 meetings, some serious geeky cuties there hehe

Fixed it

well almost completely.
Linux is nice but you get what you pay for.

Sure you can get lots of free stuff but it comes witha price. In Windows you can install 3 - 6 dvd players and you might not have any problems.
In Linux this can be done but you will have problems. Maybe not right away but later you will and can't figure out why.

I couldn't watch quicktime trailers in the apple website. Remember I am using KDE.
So I removed TOTEM/Mplayer then I removed Kaffeine/Xine/Xine-lib
I left VLC on the system, plus flash. relogged into linux and went straight to filecabi.net I think they use avi/adobe flash. I was able to watch the video there. Then I went to the apple site. I wasn't able to watch but changed my preference in Firefox relogged and tried again. I was able to watch the trailers this time. Only problem is I get green line at the bottom of the video. Which doesn't really interfere with my viewinng but it can be annoying at times.
Now in Yast [ source software installer for RPM] I locked certain for NO MORE UPDATES. Anything to do with VIDEO, AUdio. ANything else I don't mind but anything getting close to video/audio files I am not accepting any updates. If it isn't broke don't fix it. When the time comes to make my media center then I will update.

Thanks for the help.
