Once again, OS X is not based on some Linux variant. Amazing how some people are still unable to grasp basic knowledge.

Maybe if the OP stops wasting his time with articles that are 3 years old. LOL!!!

http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-things-linux-does-better-than-os-x/461

It may sound strange, seeing as how OS X is based on a Linux variant and is widely considered to be the most user-friendly operating system available, but Linux does a number of things better than everyone’s favorite iOperatingSystem.
Before you shun the thought, read on. You might be surprised at your resulting opinion.

I saw the date but didn't feel the need to post it, since the 10 points aren't exactly from the Jurassic period, 3 years and things haven't changed much have they?

How do you delete on Mac?

But in a previous thread somewhere in the Tech forum here I did mention UNIX being the core of Mac, just like Linux, minus the HYOOOGE price disparity.
I know it rubs you the wrong way, but it's a fact.

Not sure I could run evertyhing on Linux without running a machine or VM running Windows to integrate with their tablets, smartphones, use MS office, run photoshop etc. Pretty easy to do so with iOS unless I'm a gamer.
Linux had no part in the origin of iOS so mentioning them together like Linux was it's origin is false. Linux is not Unix.

Once again, you have no clue as to what you're talking about. Unix is not the core of Linux. Linux is a copy of UNIX.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Linux

OS X is built in part on BSD Unix. I don't really care about the price difference between Linux or OS X. What is it now? Free versus 29.99?

Great OP Article

LOL!!!!
Matters little since those 10 points STILL APPLY TODAY!!!

From Wiki:
Linux is a computer operating system which is based on free and open source software. Although many different varieties of Linux exist, all are Unix-like and based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel created in 1992 by Linus Torvalds.

Linux can be installed on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones, tablet computers, routers and video game consoles, to desktop computers, mainframes and supercomputers. Linux is a leading server operating system, and runs the 10 fastest supercomputers in the world.
The OP was excellent. Especially liked points 4-10 which apply MORE today than 3 yrs ago!....;)

You do realize that when you copy something you try to get it to be like something, don't you?

Why don't you go try to find the village that AnimalMagnetism has wandered back to? You can keep him company.

Actually, it runs on 400+ of 500 fastest supercomputers in the world. No iOS there:

Unix, BSD, Linux, iOS - they are all very close relatives. That's probably why Apple religion cult hates Linux so much. It can do everything iOS can and more - free of charge. Apple fans must justify their investment somehow and there is no better way than irrational hatred that has no foundation in reality.

Exactly.
For ages the running joke in the Linux community has been OSX is nothing more than a non-free Unix/BSD/Linux distro. Fanbois pay a premium for what we get for FREE....;)

And then you pay for MS Windows anyways or waste hours getting Wine working so you can run photoshop or efile taxes etc

Actually, I've noticed that it's the other way around. Linux fanbois hate OS X and mock it all the time. The OS X fanbois ignore it, much like the rest of the computing world.

Some people pay, others are fortunate to have friends that work at Microsoft and get their software at a quarter of the price.
WINE is easy to use and run.
