I'm not Italy bashing here so dont jump all over me...but it took them 2 set pieces to beat Scotland, at home nonetheless....
Not going to jump all over you on this one big-e...i will pardon your ignorance because i'm assuming you didn't attend an Italian bar and watch the game on RAI International. If you had, you would have seen an Italian team that dominated ALL ball control and possession, especially in the midfield where we traditionally lack, and a team that applied enough pressure to generate multiple free-kicks outside of the area. Scotland were pressured practically all game long and they used traditional British rough defense to foul our players. This resulted in the set peices that Pirlo masterfully scored on, two different goalies nonetheless, in two different halfs, on the same type of kick. Wonderful!!! 2-0 was an excellent result. Just consider that Poland won 8-0 and England beat that same team at home only 2-0. How does that happen?
If it weren't for Totti's sub-par play and Cassano's indifference on the pitch, we could have scored even more. It kinda even made me wish Del Peiro was back on the squad...and that's saying a lot.
I was just teasing you Esco. it's hard to knock n_v off his imagined high horse. everything the guy says has to be taken as gold because for some reason he appointed himself as "know-it-all" of everything. he's the king of everything soccer, f1, crotia, hell...even italy.
listen to your own advice.
