Couple of threads back I ask about this medication. I have not used it, still researching the pros and cons. My question here is why are guys reluctant to use this medication. Success rate is at 88%, sexual side affects probability at 2% (which is reversible). cost is not that high; $600 for the branded version (Procepia) and as said by poorguy, $200 per year for the none branded Proscar. Only possible downside to the medication is the fact that if you are completely bald than it is relatively ineffective but if you thinning it should be sufficient to stop the falling of hair. Second problem is that hair lose has to be Male pattern balding the scientific term is androgenetic alopecia; ie related to geneitics. Procepia only works on this condition. THere are other smaller problems with procepia but they are either a rarity (ie. 1 in 300 chances), reversible or both. This being said it seems to be more effective than rogaine so why don't guys that want hair use it??

i wish i had thinner hair!...my hair grows thick and fast...pisses me off...my haircuts last a max of 3 weeks and i use tons of gel to keep it shaped...i even tried using hair thinning shampoo...lol...wish i could donate some to you...i wouldn't mind losing a few strands of hair...

God only made so many perfect heads and the rest he had to cover in hair
Me, I trim it down to 1/16th of an inch, less maintenance than shaiving it. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, apart from having to wear a cap or hat in the sun. I NEVER have a bad hair day, never have to spend money or time on a haircut (do it myself with a electric trimmer)
Personally I can think of a lot better things to do with my money and time than worry about my chrome dome

I am blessed with a full head of hair at 52...but I have many firends who have rejoiced in shaving their heads at a young age.
I don't see the problem with balding.
My hair has been gray since I was 15. A different but similar situation. My first wedding pictures..I was in my 20's ..gray haired beside my early 20's bride! It's all the same but I sympathize.
The thing that makes me laff...society covets the hair on the head as precious, but we'll shave the pubes to be sexy to a woman.
When all she really wants is for us to be ourselves....

dude, don't waste your time with the lab-coats. there in the business to sell you sh*t that doesn't work so you find yourself going back month-after-month to see his buddy lab-coat 2# (pharmacist) behind the counter working the drug dispenser with one hand, and grabing your $$$ and stuffing into the cash-registor with the other.El_Mariachi said:

a) go low (buzz) and see how it goes. if you can pull it off. you're good-to-go.
b) get a "hair-system". buddy of mine got one done years ago, I swear, looked like the real thing.
c) get micro-plugs. not cheap, but the process these days is better than ever (natural looking head of hair) and the bonus is that it's permanent.

Actually technically it should work for that, just slowly thicken up the hair. One different question I had. Is there anyone on this board who has used it and completely lost there sex drive??? Permanently!! Is there anyone on this board that has used it and did not see any results.mmouse said:
