From what I could tell from CNET it launches in April.........looks promising to an extent

if you can have a fax and say 2 extensions on it........looks good at that point.

It's definitely on the up and up. The only problem with it is that it has to plug into a computer, which isn't much of a problem if your computer is always on.

That is the second part of the equation........A desktop unit is likely the best choice for the home..........You plug into existing phone jack and it should activate the additional jacks in the home........I do however suggest having a QUALIFIED TECH (not cousin Eddy who thinks he can do it) isolate your telephone jack lines from the BELL network connection.......If you are using DSL from the local phone company this will for sure take some expertise.

Why is this an issue? VoIP is data and if the connection works it works. Is it not safe to assume that 1) there are DSL/phone filters installed on all jacks and that 2) this is sufficient?

The 48 volts of the bell line would not work well with the DONGLE. You have to separate the lines from bell to insure proper function.....Thus the suggestion of a QUALIFIED TECH.

Cool did you order the pink one. I was reading some reviews of the product that I found browsing and getting some feedback on another forum. and it seems to be a good thing to purchase since it released well over a year ago and the things that they would be available in a year are now available

on the website they mentioned the mac upgrade and the vista upgrade in thier trouble shooting page.

The pink one was just not me.......I ordered the plaid one. They say it will ship Wednesday. I went with the Priority shipping.

a couple of days ago Magic Jack arrived..............I could not get it up and running untill I reset IE and got that running........minnor problen in the world of computers. I was unable to get a Buffalo number, I see that as a good and bad thing..........I am running wireless and I suggest you are within 12 feet of the AP (look it up)

Been running for too short a time to say yea or na

Well I got this little bugger over the weekend and installed it..........It wants to work on IE and does. Have only a single line cordless hooked up to it at the present but will be trying fax in the near future.

Could not get a 716 (buffalo) number but have a 718 (nyc) number..........Therefore 911 is not usable

Voice quality is fine and install is so easy a GB could do it.

made a call to the west coast and while the voice quality was down from cell service it was acceptable..............so far I reccomend it

I made the choice to have priority shipping and it arrived by last weekend........total cost was 52 or 53 dollars. And yeas that includes the first year of service. I am impressed enough to buy one for my daughter too.

I am not going to get it if I can get the area code I need, the whole point of it is so that family can reach me when I travel without buying a phone card or running up my cell phone bill.
