I have not had any time to follow college hoops closesly this year, but it looked like an exciting season with all the changes in #1.

This should be a great March Madness.

This has been a great year for college basketball because there is not one unanimous number one choice.

I will pick a couple of longshots but I must see the brackets first.

There have been so many #1's this year in the ATP poll, I have a feeling Cinderella might get in the carriage, but not make it to the ball, lol.

You're so right about that. I really thought that UConn was going to be strong until they lost Jerome Dyson for the year. Pittsburgh was looking very strong but they were blasted by West Virginia (who can beat anyone at any time) the other night. North Carolina (without Ty Lawson) struggled against Virginia Tech. Today will answer some questions and who is on the bubble.

Umm, March Madness is more then the tournament itself espeically if you are an NCAA basketball fan for the entire year.

There are a bunch of games this weekend that determine seeding and who get in.

Baylor, Duquesne, USC, Mississippi St, Nevada can all steal seeds from teams on the bubble. The #1 seeds are not yet determined

If you follow the NCAA all year, conference tournament week is almost good as the tournament itself.

Lets not forget the 6 OT classic between Syracuse and UConn on Thursday night.

Couldnt care less HATE B-Ball wouldnt walk across the road to see a college game or the Raptors etc and I played in High School and College miind you it was 38 years ago and a MUCH different game. You could call a travelling foul on EVERY DUNK if the refs had any balls but its so much part of the game now.

OK then
Well I really don't care.
NCAA basketball isn't really on my radar.
I wouldn't know a Syracuse from a Baylor or a Nevada?!?!?!?!
Whatever.

the problem with NCAA basketball is numerous, most of the top guys leave after a year or maybe two and go into the NBA draft, a large number of European players drafted into the NBA meaning we never get to see the best play at this level, and just full of mediocrity in bad shooting, time management etc.

For bettors -the past week or so is the money week -the Mayhem before the Madness is where it's at.

But for March Madness -NC is always a good bet, Louisville and Memphis to make maybe the final 4.

All the naysayers have their reasons for not liking college hoops...but March Madness is a great event.

By the time the Final Four rolls around, almost always the cinderellas and pretenders are weeded out. Even though Pitt lost big to WVU this week, it's hard to not pick them to at least get the end!

I far prefer NCAA ball to the league. More intensity, more team oriented, all sorts of interesting defensive schemes. The only thing I don't like is seeing the good bigs (like Hansborough) who you know will be at best a role player in the league since most young big men are drafted early on potential (and that they don't serve beer at tournament games). It's too bad we get so little coverage of the season besides a couple games Saturdays on the American networks and the rare weeknight game on Raps TV.

I also think that this (conference tournament) weekend is huge with the Cinderella teams in the weak conferences playing for the automatic bid (their only shot) and the big name teams playing for the best possible seed. You also get all sorts of interesting personal stories coming out of college like this one.

I thought we were talking about March Madness and not a hate for basketball. If you don't like basketball then keep it to yourself. I am not a fan of certain sports but I am not going to go on other threads and tell them what a horrible game it is. Grow up.

How in the blue hell did Arizona get in??? 19-13? and they got a favourable 1st round matchup with Utah.
Absolute bullshit. They have only 3 guys that can actually play.

You're absolutely right that the matchup with Utah is favourable.

If they can't beat Utah, then it will look good on them.

Even if they beat Utah, they will have to play Wake Forest and I really don't think that they match up well with them at all.

Don't get me wrong, I like there 3 main guys, Hill, Budinger and Wise but the rest of the team is not very good.

There are always going to be complaints that one school got in while other schools more deserving did not.

Theie RPI was not nearly as good as other schools either.

In this case, Arizona did not deserve to get in at all. Period.
