Mark Carney DID apologize to President Trump over the anti Tariff ad.

Should Carney have apologized for Ford's video? I'm on the fence. I know the righty trolls here are performatively upset about this, and I at first thought Trump was lying. But, the reality here is Trump is a thin-skinned whinny bitch. He got butt hurt for being called out on his terrible economic policies. He probably knows he's going to lose at the Supreme Court (well, who knows with those conservative quislings), so he's going to cry that it was outside interference...Did Canada really have anything to apologize for? Not really.

But, all that being said, flattery works wonders on Trump. Canada still needs the US market, and removing these idiotic tariffs is important to the Canadian economy. Pretending otherwise is foolish. I would wager that PP would do the exact same thing if he was PM. Until we can get other trade deals with Europe and Asian, and start seeing a boom in exports, we need a trade deal. It is stupid to pretend otherwise. Now, I don't trust that Trump will accept the deal for a long time. Let's face it, he'll likely find a new grievence in the coming weeks/months/years and threaten to tear the whole thing up. He is not a reliable partner, nor is the US anymore.

Now, some of y'all are bitching about the retaliatory tariffs being taken down. There was a reason: They were against the USMCA deal. Trump did that mostly with Canadian good, those not covered by the deal are getting dinged with tariffs. There is no rhyme or reason to them, because they include things like aluminum, which the US only makes about 14% of their requirements domestically.

The bottomline here is that Carney needs to kiss a little ass to keep the economy going. PP would do the same. He might bluster about this right now, but a trade deal is more important now. And, I still think Canada is playing Elbows Up. Go to your grocery store, and you'll see American produce not selling. People are not going to the US anymore. The impact of Canadian boycotts is hurting their economy, just as much as the stupid tariffs...

There was no real upside to DoFo wasting $75 million of Ontario money.

As I said in another thread....I am torn by the Ford video. On one hand, it was accurate and spot on, coming from a province that is probably one of the hardest hit by the tariffs. The video called out the stupidity of the tariffs, and used a Neo-Con legend to say it. BUT...the issue comes from the fact that Ontario has no business doing this. Treaty and trade negotiations are done at the federal level. There is really no reason for this video, and it ended up hurting the negotiations. Now, with that being said, there is a good chance Trump would've found another thing to bitch about and halt negotiations. So, we may never really know what impact the ad actually had on the talks...

It doesn't matter if it was accurate, it was undermining Carney's trade deals on behalf of all of Canada.

Yea... Trump doesn't even know about the Crypto crook that HE pardoned ( of course the crypto crook did business with Trump's sons). But of course the victims of Trump Devotional Syndrome still cling to their insane hero like a starving baby to their mama's tit.
Which is why trump is busy importing Israeli armed drones and setting up a police state.

Besides that even - it was a huge waste of Ontario Tax dollars that could have been used to help those being hurt by the tariffs while a deal is being hammered out.

I like the idea of telling the truth too and part of me likes that Ford stuck it to Trump but not at the cost of 75M that could have been used in a much better way.

I actually support Dofo in this instance. The ads made their point- they got under Trump’s skin and triggered a national conversation in the US.

In my opinion, Carney should have had Dofo’s back and stood up for him publicly even if he disagreed.
Really?

Seriously?

U really believe that?

A non-state actor, that being a unitard clad buffoon masquerading as Captain Extra 10% Tariff Moron, has been expending all of his time, energy and focus and all of Ontarian taxpayer's money at doing any and everything except HIS OWN FRICKIN JOB, parading around like a circus clown atop the shoulders of a black bear riding a micro-tricycle all over American network newscasts and media bleating and braying this and that and then wastes $75million of taxpayers money for an aborted ad campaign about a former Republican president that really no one in today's republican party really cares about anymore and winds up having an extra 10% tariff added on to Canadian exports on top of all the other tariffs in addition to causing trade talks to be discontinued.

This three ring circus star, known as the Moron of Ontario and Canada triggered an American national conversation? Fark, no one in America gives a hoot about our dear moron.

Carney, Ontarians and Canadians should have this buffoon's back, you opine? U can't be serious.

This moron should just stay in his lane and stop meddling in every country's, province's, state's, region's, city's, town's, village's, burg's hamlet's, board's, agency's, department's, classroom's, living room's, washroom's, toilet's affairs.

Yup, he could have given another $10 million to the strip club instead.

I would assume tomorrows budget will continue the Liberal party’s decade long tradition of lowering investment, productivity and stagnating quality of life.
