You should try using the google and checking out the Biden climate plan, its getting quite a bit done and renewables are up massively as a result.
But those are facts and they likely don't work with your world view.

The change in science deniers from 'its all fake news' to 'they didn't warn us enough' would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
What the fuck you smoking today franky....what has the Biden administration done this whole week in Maui?

So anyway.........Anybody made a donation to the relief fund? I just sent $100 US. Hopefully it will go to the right place. I paid through paypal so it should be legit.

Not really surprising. I just read a little article on the internet from a lady who moved to Hawaii for less than a year and then moved back to the mainland. Her point was that she became very aware that it is an indigenous place that has been invaded and taken over by outsiders and the original inhabitants have as usual been pushed aside and marginalized. It bothered her. I saw maybe an Anthony Bourdain piece where locals in Oahu were saying they have millions of tourists shitting in their ocean and depleting the natural resources. They have made life unaffordable to the original indigenous people. Sound familiar?
If you read James Mitchener's "Hawaii" he mentions the historic past of the place where it became a whorehouse for sailors and whalers. Not all paradise there.

It's not paying through paypal, it is what is the relief fund.
There are going to be a lot of scams set up.

(Gonna do some research to see if I can vet some legit places to donate.)

It's not surprising a devastating tragedy of epic proportions brings out the usual chuckleheads blaming climate change just to fuel their own narratives and left-wing fear mongering agendas.

The fire that tragically wiped out Lahaina began as a brush fire that ignited due to a snapped power line that flared up in the afternoon after firefighters had previously declared it contained. In other words, nothing to do with climate change.

That together with the confluence of strong trade winds whipped up by Hurricane Dora which was churning over the Pacific Ocean 500+ miles south of Hawaii and how those strong winds interacted with Maui’s mountainous topography that created such volatile fire conditions.

"The effect is known as downslope wind. As wind passes over a mountain and comes down the other side, it becomes compressed under extremely high pressure, making it both super dry and super hot. What that meant was that any place where the winds were aligned and there was this downslope wind, they had the strongest, the driest and the hottest winds associated with this larger hurricane wind event."

In other words, natural events that have occurred since time immemorial contributed to the conditions that ended in tragedy.

In addition to:

Hawaiian Electric did not shut down electricity/power lines as they should have implemented a shut-off plan during high wind and red flag conditions when warm temperatures, low humidity and strong winds combine to produce an increased fire risk. Also, during the 2019 Maui wildfire season they acknowledged it needed to upgrade its equipment to prevent the power lines from emitting sparks. It did not do so. The company had previously reported its plans to put lines underground in vulnerable areas, strengthen poles and remove hazardous trees. I guess they never got around to it. So in addition to the faulty lines that increased the spread and continuation of horrific wildfire, the 30 or so downed utility poles with *live power lines* impeded the evacuation process causing even more chaos and possibly deaths. Two class action lawsuits have now been launched.

The outdoor emergency siren system to alert residents to tsunamis and other natural disasters (apparently the largest in the world) WAS NOT ACTIVATED.

The water hydrants were not working properly.

And equally as important, Hawaii has been warned for years that unmanaged, nonnative grasslands have invaded drier Hawaiian ecosystems and WILL result in larger, faster spreading wildfires. Not if, WHEN. Unfortunately those dire warnings went unheeded.

Sorry to say to those of you pissing your pants with glee using this tragedy to advance your climate change agenda, it has very little to do with it. Shame on you.

My parents' close friends are missing.

RIP to all the lost souls and my condolences to their loved ones.

I hope your parents friends are found and made it out.
The climate sheeple will never change.
They are basically with out common sense and lack the ability of thinking for themselves.
All they do is look for charts on google to try and justify their opinion.

They're being given $700, I kid you not. That plus water, blankets, some toiletries and food if you're lucky. The MSM narrative is the feds have arranged for hotels/motels but that's just for a select few. And mostly just a couple/few days. They have no idea where to go next. Many locals are sleeping in their cars (if it survived the fire). There is an APP they can register for FEMA but apparently it's extremely buggy, knocking people off the site etc.

The vast majority of assistance so far has been community organized. People offering up their homes to neighbors, and even to strangers.

Did you see Biden leaving the beach recently, when asked by a reporter if he wanted to comment on this tragedy ONE WEEK AFTER ... he SMILED and said "no, no comment" then hopped in the vehicle. Sick bastard couldn't come up with one word of sympathy after not even acknowledging it for an entire week. That pretty much sums it up.

You know where they are coming from.

Speaking of chuckleheads and obsessed climate change kooks... look what the cat just dragged in.

There isn't one item in that CBC link of "conspiracy theories" that has ANY correlation to my post. Nice try though.

Tragedy on top of tragedy. Heard on the radio that they expect to find bodies that were cremated.

The CBC article nailed you as someone looking for conspiracy theories to avoid blaming climate change for the increase in forest fires.
If you think this is normal, feel free to mention the last time the capital of a province or territory in Canada had to be evacuated for forest fires.

Do you have a theory to explain why we have this many fires going on right now?

How often has a perfect storm of strong winds and nearby wildfire occurred?

Not arguing for or against but that’s kind of saying anytown, in northern Ontario, Yellowstone. Anywhere where fires are common. If it’s climate change why are they still standing?
When was the last time the entirety of Yellowknife was evacuated?

African grass. Grows fast for animal feed. That's what caused it. 60 minutes. The grass that burnt up has already regrown.
