From the info I'm getting, the coronavirus may be mutating already and Georgia is Ground Zero.

Governor Brian Kemp opened business early, then schools without restrictions. Then he filed a lawsuit against Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms for contravening his orders. Now the death toll in Georgia is getting younger, teenagers in the State are now dying. Trump ever loyal to his supporters gave his endorsement to Governor Kemp, now he's throwing him under a bus. Sensibly Governor Kemp dropped the lawsuit against Atlanta - you shouldn't piss off half the State's tax base.

Georgia Covid cases are DECREASING so a "new mutation" is laughably ignorant

During 8/3-8/9, Georgia’s weekly statewide case numbers decreased by 7%.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that Georgia has experienced a 22% decrease in case numbers over the past two weeks relative to the two weeks prior to that, and that we have seen a downward trajectory of cases for two weeks now.
The highest % of case numbers still come from the high population counties in metro Atlanta (Fulton, Gwinnett, DeKalb, Cobb have the highest case numbers) but these counties are actually experiencing decreases now.

Doesn't mean a mutation. It could just be that we underestimated how resistant teens were because the numbers infected were so much lower. Now that they are in the forefront we are seeing more accurate numbers. Still, there's a lot we don't know, so mutation isn't out of the question.
