How does that make sense? He didn't sign McCabe, and fans have no control on Leaf wins. Its all management.

The leafs won't win signing guys like McCabe to 5yrs at crazy contracts.
Tonights game was very upsetting to watch. On the PP, and with the goalie pulled for a 6-4 McCabe can't handle the puck, coughs it up, then chasing the Capitals player who stripped him, Bryan is slashing non stop, and finishes with a brutal cross check.
Then in the box, he is swearing, and going on to everyone who looks his way.

The guy has not been 'right' since the Olympics proved him to be a glaring mistake as an invite. If he can't be traded, or demoted, atleast bench him, or cut his ice time.

Match Kabina up with Kaberle and work those two on PPs, those two when pulling a goalie.
Bryan is the absolute worse at puck handling. When someone throws the puck back to the blue line on a PP, I only pray its #15 who is accepting the pass. Otherwise, an odd man rush is coming.

You sound like the rest of the Leaf fans! And thats not very smart! The difference between the 2 of them is 3 assists! Like the rest of the Leaf fans you refer to him on a first name basis like you know him! That sounds so gay!

I personally was never thrilled with the contract McCabe got..... he still sucked ass tonight. Decent enough player one dimensional... but not a franchise player. Too much money tied up with one person of his caliber.

All I have to say is in regards to McCabe .... Forget about the salary ... He asked for it and nobody was pointing a gun to JFJ head to accept the offer but he did ... Shit he gave McCabe everything except his first born child ... No trade ... No buyout ... everything .... So we can't expect McCabe to play like a 6 million dollar defenseman cause he isn't of that callibre ... He just happens to be paid at that level ... How about Ted Lilly he is now a 10 million dollar pitcher but guess what he isn't a 10 million dollar pitcher he is still a 500 pitcher who just had
a good year and won the lottery ..

I don't like McCabe and would prefer to see someone else sign for the Leafs but what he was supposed to do ? Go to JFJ and say "you know what, I don't deserve this $$$, give me less". Of course nobody would do that, so he just signed and now he's just playing like he can, making a lot of mistakes. McCabe situation is similar to Yashin. Both players got a big contact they didn't deserve and both haven't been able to perform according to their contacts. Yashin improved this year though. Maybe McCabe will improve in a few years as well ?

...everyone knows he's one dimensional...kinda the rich man's Adrian Aucoin..remember him in Vancouver??...same as McCabe...on any other team, Mc Cabe wouldn't be getting 30 mins/game, he'd be the 3rd or 4th defenseman...playing in specialty situations...But he isn't a top line defenseman...and the Leafs defensive problem is only compounded by paying that stiff Kubina almost the same money...no goals and a few assists??...and he's every bit as brutal in his own end as McCabe...at least McCabe finds the net every so often. The trade deadline should be interesting this year for the Leafs. If they are out of a playoff spot, I really think there will be a lot of heat to blow the whole thing up...Trade Sundin and Tucker for whatever you can get..and go the Boston way,after they traded Joe Thornton, they still are doing better than the Leafs...not that it takes a lot to do that..

I agree. He just happened to peak at the right place at the right time. Most players probably aren't paid what they're actually worth. It could be less, it could be more. The market dictates.

He never was much of a positional defencemen and made up
for it with his canopener which he now can't use.

don't anyone for a minute discount the importance of this fact. McCabe is a slow skater and was once regarded as a strong defensive defenceman before the new rules have taken place. Do y'all remember when he was known for his punishment in his own end of the rink? It's all but gone now. Something like how Derian Hatcher failed to evolve with the game.

.. Great defenseman can be put with Rookies and help them grow and also be effective but not him..
