LOL yeh, right. Teams will be just lining up to take him for $7 million a year. You would have more luck demoting him to the AHL. No problem passing waivers because nobody would take him at that price.Mr.420 said:I think Maurice should send him a message by cutting down his ice time. If he even says a word, force a trade on him!!!
Exactly right! No team in their right mind would shell out that kind of dough for McCabe. The Leafs are stuck with him, unless JFJ can work out a multi player trade for him, and seeing how terrible he is at negotiating, I wouldn't expect him to get much from it. Another $7M down the drain.Questor said:LOL yeh, right. Teams will be just lining up to take him for $7 million a year. You would have more luck demoting him to the AHL. For everyonre that counts , one doesn't ... last years playoffs.. example explanation....lube monkey said:I.that goal by Sundin WAS legal...you are allowed to redirect a shot with your skate, as long as there is not a distinct kicking motion.....goal was legal...period.
While sitting in the press box might convince McCabe to sign off on a trade, putting a $5.5m player there may not be possible politically for jfj. It would also likely create a lot of tension and distraction in the dressing room. The only way to really trade him is to agree to pay part of his salary. So in future years, McCabe's salary comes out of the Leaf's salary cap. Bundling him up in a package deal, you would have to make the rest of the deal very attractive to get another team to go for it. You're probably looking at eating part of the salary in that scenerio too.ISOMSOG said:That doesn't mean they can't let him sit in the press box and collect his 5.5 till he gets tired of it and requests a trade... He had a great season when he redid his contract, and now he plays like the bum he is...

Because of that no other team will take him. Plus he has a no trade and no movement clause in his contract. His agent played JFJ big time.
so are you saying he's Czech or Russian? lol...BIG PAPPI said:Ever since McCabe signed that lucrative deal he’s gone down hill.
No, I do not believe that he stole it from the Leafs. I understand your issue but he today would get more money than the original contract. He produces, and he is an excellent player.BIG PAPPI said:Everyone forgets that John Ferguson Junior who's a puppet to the MLSE brass shouldn’t be the only person taking the blame on keeping this stiff around! Ever since McCabe signed that lucrative deal he’s gone down hill and there’s no reason for him to prove otherwise! Why would he with every clause possible in his contract to keep him here despite being a primary reason why this defence will falter again this year!
I agree, cut his ice time, bench him, and hopefully he’ll ask for a trade because that’s the only way we’re getting rid of this jackass!
McCabe stealing money from the Leafs:
The deal was a 5 year, $27 million dollar deal paying Nash $3.5 million in 2005-06, $4.5 million in 2006-07, $5.5 million in 2007-08, $6.5 million in 2008-09, and $7 million in 2009-10.
