Many men and women would (and will still) ask the question, "why would she lie about something like that? She has no reason to make up something like that up. She has nothing to gain."

Fact is, women will do all kinds of crazy things... simply for attention/validation. And yes, that includes falsely accusing a man of sexual assault and destroying his life. After he tried to help her.

A woman could lie about being sexually assaulted while at the same time believing that she is telling the truth, if she is one of the people who believe that they can define and use words any way they choose.

An example: A man and woman hook up for a one night stand. They have consensual sex. He never calls her again. She considers this to have been sexual assault, and states on social media that he sexually assaulted her.

I do not, under any circumstances, condone any acts which are legitimately sexual assaults. My only objection is with subjective definition of words. Language is meant to be explicitly understood, not felt emotionally.

In India, if you promise a girl you will marry her, and then have consensual sex with her, and then dump her, then that is considered rape under the law because consent was obtained under a false premise. There were enough of them who had the right to vote that any political party that tried to pass a law like that wouldn't be in power after the next election.

While no longer a criminal offense, a man having sex with a mentally challenged woman is still a felony under Neo-Nazi legal codes.

One is too many. A guy who spends twenty years of his life in prison is not comforted by the knowledge that only a few of the other inmates were falsely accused. it's a difficult balancing act, because you don't want to suppress real claims. But, at the same time, you need to punish anyone who falsely accuses someone of a crime like this or domestic violence. Even if you are exonerated, there will be people who will believe the allegations. I bet this dude will have trouble getting employed because the first thing people will see when they google his name is the accusation or conviction, not the fact he was framed....

as for false sexual assualts (no rape in Canada legally) there quite common or appear to be so. it is rare for them to be procecuted and or detected.

hard to know but we know that 1 in 20 confess to crimes they didn't commit ..so its possible that 1 in 20 is the magic number of false accusations. using the same methodology as the 1/3 of women are raped we get a huge number but that methodology is badly flawed.
