But Canada airfares are higher, how much from Toronto to Cuba ? I can go to round trip to Orlando non stop from $200 US out of Detroit metro ?

And if US customs found out I could be fined big bucks so I never think of doing it again ! Remember now Canada is going to start sharing its custom records with the USA, sure Canada will have about you returning from Cuba on your travel history.

You know the real reason why the USA still has the travel ban. Its to help Florida tourism. Heck who would fly to Orlando--Tampa when Cuba is just 40 mins longer flight and has hotter temps-better beaches and hotter night spots ? BTW, whats the drinking age in Cuba-do they have one, lol.

If Cuba was OK, Florida tourism would be almost dead, so I never see the ban being lifted unless it becomes a US state, ha ha

Cuba has tons of local semi-pro girls willing to fuck you silly...what does Mexico have?
Speaking of which...I'm off to Cancun in a week or so. If I come out of the shower a la Strauss-Kahn, how much should I tip the chambermaid?

Mexico has more or less legalized prostitution, they have to have health inspections and be registered...I have been told. Probably a bit less risky than in Cuba but I guess that would depend on your level of local knowledge...in Cuba I think the big risk is from getting caught by authorities, and perhaps that is a bigger risk to the provider.

would you rather fuck a semi-pro (who maybe doing it for the first or second time in her life) or a prostitute?

I was to Mexico about 10 years ago.It may very well be the media distorting the violence but from what i've read over the last few years i'd be hard pressed to go back at this point. What a violent brutal way to die:(

Her ex-husband just happened to know where to dig to find the bodies? I trust this was just luck and that he has his time in mid December well documented.

You have no idea how "semi" any semi-pro is. My concern would be for safety...equally either way. What you may think they are or what they bill themselves as are really irrelevant. The difference in the countries is that Mexico requires them to be registered...and it is a crime to take money for sex and not be a registered sex worker...with regular check ups. As I understand it...ymmv.

Not very likely in either of those countries. Many teenagers in Cuba have one or two children as the Cuban guys don't like to use condoms. The girls have their big coming out party at fifteen, and by the time they are eighteen are usually very experienced, moreso than your usual eighteen year old Canadian girl. The Cubans seem to know that tourists are looking for the semi - pros, so some of them claim to be students, especially medical students. This seems to give the appearance of a struggling student going out with foreigners on a part time basis, while in actual fact many are seasoned full time pros with a fake background.

When I was last in Mexico, coincidently where the most recent Canadian lady was found murdered, I happened to be walking by the local health clinic and saw one of the girls from the strip club entering the health clinic for her check up. Someone I was with explained that they had to have monthly checks in order to be able to work at the clubs. In Cuba the sex trade is underground, so no such system is in place.

I think that xenophobia is the wrong word. While I didn't spend as much time in mexico as you have, I've been there more than most. I knew what could go on there if you weren't really careful. Yes, there's many places including canada where you are going to get into trouble if you act like an idiot but mexico took it to a new level. The govt. and police corruption there is no secret. I was fortunate, nothing bad ever happened to me but I know people that were stopped for no reason during the middle of the day and extorted by the police. Throw in the dramatic increase of murders in recent years and really, why would anyone go to mexico just for fun in the sun when they can go somewhere much safer where the local authorities are far more friendly to the tourists?
I feel sorry for the average mexican who is trying to pay their bills and live an honest lifestyle, but until the mexican govt cleans up the corruption then I won't spend one dollar of my money there. When they do that, I'll return.
I agree with your comments, and when you see news reports like the one I linked to below, it is understandable that people will be apprehensive when reading these stories. 47, 000 dead, these are just the murders related to the drug wars in the past few years. At the same time, I believe Canada's annual murder rate was less than 600.

Decapitated bodies found at posh mall; 5-year drug war death toll passes 47,000

MEXICO CITY - Two decapitated bodies were found inside a burning SUV early Wednesday at the entrance to one of Mexico's most luxurious malls, feeding fears drug violence is infiltrating privileged realms previously thought safe.

Police recovered the mutilated bodies before dawn off a toll highway at a shopping mall entrance in the heart of the Santa Fe district that's a haven for international corporations, diplomats and the wealthy. The heads and a threatening message were dumped a few yards away, Mexico City prosecutors said in a statement.

Hours later, the government released a drug war body count recording more than 47,000 victims in five years, echoing independent death tolls tabulated by Mexican media.

If only those heads could talk-post-what stories would they tell :frown: Dead people post nothing.

The problem I found is in Mexico people either like you or dislike you, if you get on their wrong side watch out. And its not your fault

People over there seem to notice more, you go to Eaton Center people got a life, they are not looking-checking you out. When I was in Acapulco the locals would all stare at the tourist-cops right in hand. They were like sizing you up.

This one gal thought it be cute I guess to walk on the main sidewalk at 9 pm in her little bikini, about 18, spinner type. Everybody-the men -taxi guys-were eyes on her, including the cops carrying the machine guns. Lots of chatter in Spanish going on. There as tons of us tourist on the walk so she passed on by but no way she could had pulled that without all the college break people around. And she could not had stop, she was walking fast on by. Those guys down there don't put up with shit, they do something about it-legal or not who cares. A couple guys look just about ready to move on her.

I seen hookers working 4--6 cars lengths from the police, not spinner types but tall Spanish gals around 25 years old. It was a carefree hangout. Cop was around just in case shit happen, not to cause any. It was late at night, 1 am or so. You need to get laid ok, guys were coming and going from this one building near by. I checked them out for 10--15 mins but didn't see anything that great in my eyes. They were ok but 6 feet tall-plus heels and speaking Spanish intimated me . Plus I fuck before in places in Detroit and found getting in a house can be easier then leaving. Once back outside, then you gotta get back to your wheels. Mexico its walk past the cop on beat, he should be cool but what if not ?

............................

We got it pretty darn good here--Toronto. Its SAFE, people mind their own business. The gals are fun. You pay more but get peace of mind and many gals don't have babies at age 14--15 like in 3rd world countries

I agree with that, I met a girl in Santiago who claimed to be a law student but was unable to recall her courses when I asked . I also had a lot of less seasoned girls and it was quite more fun than spending time with full-time pros.

Not sure what freedom issue you are talking about. Legalizing prostitution and requiring regular medical examinations is similar to the way it works in Germany as I understand it...and I think Mexico is the only country in the Americas with this sort of system. It is to protect both the customers and the providers. Pimping and even advertising prostitution is against the law, but if someone wants to work in the trade they get a licence and get regular medical check ups.
