Since yesterday, everytime I turn on my laptop I get prompted to certify that I'm using authentic Microsoft software.

I think this is for Microsoft's benefit to ensure I don't give away their Office programs. But I paid for this software two years ago, and now they're asking me to confirm authentication with them?

It let's me cancel the process, but of course, everytime I start the computer I get prompted again.

If I have to, I'll do it because I'm running legal software, but I'm pissed at Microsoft.

I know....stand in line.

If it's legit you have nothing to worry about, just do the M$ BS and be done with it.
BIG Brother at M$ is watching, all the time now.
M$ is paranoid over piracy and this is the results.

It's one of the reasons I dumped M$ and use Linux now....;)

If it's bought and paid for, just do it. only takes a click or two, and if your don't they will block your updates. They just launched a new version of genuine advantage a month or two ago. It can be an evil little app too. It tries to trick you into installing a fix to get things going and the fix locks things down and adds a bunch of crap. Hard to remove it all. If you have a priated copy of windows don't try to test the wga, it'll be more painful just ignore it, but it might stop you from getting updates. not sure if there is a hacked fix for this yet or not. Been a couple years since i worked for ms, got most of this info from a friend this is still an active tech in Peterbrough. Found out how bad it was when it was trying to make me a nice custom slipstream copy of xp.
