That would make sense if this somehow gave the hackers access to the computers. Instead it killed all the computers on boot up.

This is more like someone putting diesel by accident into a gasoline powered car....times a few million.

My understanding is it's an issue only on computers that have Crowdstrike's "Falcon Sensor" software installed on them,
this is the software that got the buggy update that caused the crashes.
