her answer has nothing to do with religion. it has everything to do with support for the traditional family unit, a view that is shared by the majority of North Americans, including mine.

this girl was set up and now she is being villified.

gay couples had all the same public benefits of heterosexual couples, short of equal recognition, in name only, of 'marriage'. your arguments are solely based on emotion and artificial equality.

I understand her argument, it's just wrong.

First, gay parents are adopting (or artificial insemination) children, thus by not allowing gay parents to wed we're forcing that family to live a non-traditional lifestyle. We're also adding instability to the children as child support and other obligations are harder to enforce.

Second, marriage has legal ramifications, and all Americans should be provided the same protection/rights under the law (and I think separate but equal was handled in the 60s for those fans of civil unions).

The gay marriage side of this argument has had it wrong for a number of years, they should bring a case to the SCOTUS under equal protection. Judges in a number of states have already ruled that way (MA, IA....) it's a slam dunk.

I've never read one single reasonable argument against gay marriage.
