Truly bad form to vandalise a foreign country. Gotta remember you are guests. I will say you Canadians are amongst some of the finest world traveller-guests imho. I've been on every continent and have seen insensitivities committed by all people's in all places but you all combine fun and politeness in the right amounts....usually. You're my favourite perverts too, thus honoured to share perversions with ye lol.

Anyhow, in some places it was a bit more rugged. In Iceland the cops will walk up to you and request you follow them to their car. Then they turn their backs and walk to the car. If they get to the car, and you are not on your way, they turn around casually walk toward you then beat you senseless. Saw a US Airforce guy get pummeled that way lol. Laughing cuz he was a smart ass and needed an ass kicking. Went ugly american quick on them and they sorted him out but good lol. Ended up in a military brig for his efforts too. Thanks for bringing back the caning memories of that American kid in singapore. I remember it vividly because it caused quite a stir back then in Oz - every dinner party or night out for a schooner you could guarantee a lively debate by simply mentioning it.

If I were travel to United Kingdom, I would not even think of spray painting their national heritage / ancient wall of the Windsor Castle let alone actually perform that act.

If I were travel to Ottawa, I would not dare to spray paint on the wall of the Parliament building there.

For the young and old folks who are traveling abroad, being respectful to people and places in a foreign land is a good thing no matter they are richer or poorer.

Whatever the outcomes of the two folks involved in the vandalizing on the ancient wall in Thailand which probably was built over 500 years ago around the inner ancient city of Chiang Mai and registered as a national heritage in Thailand, it will depend on the judge who is residing on the bench of this case. Six months, one year, two years, three years... ten years of prison term in Thailand and fines will teach the two folks their bitter life's lesson that will be with them for the rest of their lives. I'm sure that the prison cell in Thailand won't be any comfortable as in the prison cell in UK and Canada.

One thing I know about Southeast asian countries...If you can afford to pay, you will be out in no time for such a minor offense....but...yes...but...if you start doing minor offenses in Sacred places like temples...the $$$ you can afford to bail you out might not be enough...some of these countries are the most religious...I would say you're better off spray painting someones house right in front of the owner there...but not sacred places...

She's a handsome fellow, isn't she?

Does anyone feel the slightest bit of remorse for these people? I hope they serve every day of the sentence.
Dude are you on fucking crack??!!!???

You really think they deserve to spend 10 years in a roach and feces infested cell in Thailand ??? They made a stupid mistake no doubt, but come on, have some compassion here, 10 years in a thai jail is WAY over punishment for that crime. If you think they deserve 10 years for that, then there is something seriously wrong with you, or maybe you have no heart.

Although I agree with you personally, the sentence isn't the point. Their house their rules. You don't get to walk into someone esle's country and expect the privileges (and in this case leniency) of your own country or culture.

It is a $4k fine for each of them. $8k is equivalent to my
expense on more than 40 1hr bodyslide massage sessions
(I no longer visit pricey MPs near the top end). The pleasure
I can derive from this amount of money is infinitely greater
whatever satisfaction they got from vandalism. They may
have to borrow money from relatives or turn to GoFundMe
to pay their fines.

Almost all here don’t understand thai laws and especially when it comes to things regarding the Thai royal family and/or sacrilege of Buddhist shrines, temples and artifacts.
This pos of shit millennial and her British friend got off easy imho,10% of max fine, time served and gtfo of Thailand.
When you go abroad, don’t fuck with others laws and if caught stupidity of such laws are not a defence
