I happened to look a little more closely at my Bell Canada bill this month. I noticed that I got dinged the new $4.95 minimum for Bell's First Rate Long Distance Plan. Only problem is, my long distance carrier isn't Bell. 'Oops, sorry sir. Clerical error.' I wonder how many ten of thousands of "clerical errors" there were. Bastards!

The 911 service charge ($0.22) and the touch tone service charge ($2.80) - What's up with that?

I also remember party lines - Every party had their own ring and you had to wait for the other party to clear the line before you could make a call!

As for touch tone, Bell introduced the cost because it was a new service & they just kept it there. It seems that since this service is a normal operating procedures they should eliminate it.

They charged me that fee as well even though I don't use Bell as my long distance provider. And it only took me 30 minutes of sitting on hold and talking to the rep. to convince them to not make me pay for this again next month. Yay me!

My sentiments exactly. I too used to have Sprint for local service. Never had a problem with them. However, I had to change back to Bell local to get DSL, more's the pity. It was that or the cable guy. Which is worse??

Their cell phone service is poor as well

I started my plan at the end of a month with Bell. And they billed me for the entire month. Took them a few months to correct this error.

Not too long ago there was a thread with a link to other ADSL providers. I'm with www.passport.ca , great support, no complaints.

As I understand the situation, Bell wholesales the DSL service to the other providers, at least here in Ontario. True? And I really have no complaints with the Sympatico service. Nonetheless, I too plan to switch plan providers. Giving my money to Bell just doesn't sit well with me.

Well I live in a condo with cable, so I am already there. I use Rogers cable for the internet. We had major problems last fall, and the transition from @home was a real pain.

But all is very well at the moment.

And besides, I won a contest, and I get it for free!

Sent me a rebate cheque of $17.43 for my 800 service.

Two months later they had the collection service harassing me for $17.43 that I owed them.

My calls are no longer important to them!

Incompetant pricks!

This is hilarious, i have a "friend" that works for them and "he"
could tell you some stories.
The CEO was let go and with his stock option/severance package,
he will be looking at recieving 80 million cdn$.
That way he can hang out with his fellow crook Joel Rath, ex CEO

incompitent support

I've been dealing with Bell Mobility for the past few days to get a cellular modem (CDMA 1x) set up properly. After $700 and 4 calls to tech support, they still couldn't solve the problem. Each tech told me stories about how the previous tech had filled out my paperwork wrong and that my case had been lost. Finally, the dude in the store that I got it from managed to fix it.

When I was underage... They let two... Not one TWO other people hook up phone lines in my name! They used my SIN number to do it... I found out last fall!
