Therrien had the 2 best players in the world (Pittsburgh) & still couldn't get the job done.

He was fired halfway through the 08/09 season, the year they won. Thats gotta count for something

Not overly impressed with the hiring but the Habs aren't going to be a winner with this team for a few years anyway, so it will be a new coach by then. At the same time hopefully the organization is committed to rebuilding and stop plugging holes on this team just making things worse.

Just want to avoid perma suck status like the Leafs who have been out of the playoffs since 2004 and will likely continue for a while longer.

Yesterday, General Manager Marc Bergevin announced two new appointments to the coaching staff of nos Habitants.

The two new Assistant Coaches are:

Gérard Gallant - former head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL
Clément Jodoin - former head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL

The position of the Defensive Coach is expected to be filled soon.

Max Pacioretty Wins Bill Masterton Trophy

Last night, Max Pacioretty became the 2012 recipient of the NHL's Bill Masterton Trophy, awarded to the player that best exemplifies qualities of perseverance, team spirit, and dedication to the sport of hockey.

Pacioretty became the fifth player in the history of nos Habitants to win the Bill Masterton Trophy, following in the footsteps of:

Claude Provost (1968),
Henri Richard (1974),
Serge Savard (1979), and
Saku Koivu (2002).

GM Marc Bergevin Gets His Man at the Repêchage d'Entrée LNH 2012

What do you get when you combine the skill and puck moving ability of a Russian sniper with the tenacious grit and determination of an American power forward? The 3rd-overall pick by nos Habitants, Alex Galchenyuk.

Born in Wisconsin but raised in arenas everywhere from Moscow to Milwaukee, Alex Galchenyuk could prove to be the perfect NHL hybrid when he eventually kicks off his career with nos Habitants in Montréal. Touted by scouts as one of the most complete players available at the Repêchage d'Entrée LNH 2012, if he hadn't torn his ACL and missed the majority of the 2011-12 season, the 18-year-old center could have given Sarnia Sting linemate Nail Yakupov a run for 1st-overall.
