The United States is conducting a secret 'dirty tricks' campaign against UN Security Council delegations in New York as part of its battle to win votes in favour of war against Iraq.
Details of the aggressive surveillance operation, which involves interception of the home and office telephones and the emails of UN delegates in New York, are revealed in a document leaked to The Observer.

D,

So what? I think we've covered the fact that the U.S. - like every other country - plays dirty. That's a given isn't it?

How about turning your fetish for fact gathering on some other countries - at least then your opinions would have some balance.

Sorry luckyjackson, but the US is instigating an unnecessary war. Balance is not something they're interested in. So, I seek to counterbalance.

War like it or not happens. I am quite sure many people felt it was not necessary to stop Hitler. Because they agreeied with him. Or because they just did not know about the DEATH CAMPS. Either way they served function to Hitler.

No question that world politics is dirty. None what so ever.

With all due respect *d*, the "anti US" side can come up with a better counterbalance than what you have proposed.

Politics is the excersize of power and by its very nature dirty. It's done everyday, everywhere in the world by all sides. Not just the US!!!

Move on please.....

I was trying to persuade you that your chance of accomplishing your goal would be greater if you were able to change a few minds. In order to influence people, you've got to have some credibility. You have none, because your argument is always one note samba.

Yes, nice sensational story but no one at the UN seems to care:
No surprise there, say some ambassadors to reports of being spied on by U.S.
Mon Mar 3, 8:32 PM ET

By DEBORAH HASTINGS, AP National Writer

UNITED NATIONS - The Russian ambassador, appropriately enough, considered it part of the game. The Bulgarian envoy said it was a badge of honor.

At the sprawling U.N. complex, Russian Ambassador Sergey Lavrov expects his phone to be tapped.

"It's a way of life, it comes with the profession, with the job," said Moscow's envoy, whose country has been historically familiar with such issues.

His Bulgarian counterpart, Stefan Tafrov said there was something akin to a "prestige factor" in being spied on. "It's almost an offense if they don't listen," he said.

I'd also like to protest the support of Palestinian suicide bombers. But who do I protest against? Only Iraq? What of Saudi Arabia who paid out over $50 million dollars last year to any Palestinian families who had loved ones killed during intifada? There was no distinction in compensation payments to families of suicide bombers and those killed by Israeli military action. I've heard the number, of families of suicide bombers, is over 100 who received large payments from the Saudis. Iraq and Saudi Arabia both claim that such payments are simply an expression of Arab solidarity. So who do I protest against? The US is not at war with Saudi Arabia. And what of the Israeli military who perpetuate the Palestinian unrest to begin with? They received billions of dollars in support from the US. Maybe I should protest against them.

Hey d How about a moment to remember those who fought and died so that you may have the right to protest anything. If the states stayed out of everyones business then people woud bitch and complain that as a super power they sit on there asses and do nothing. And that is the truth.
