Too many prior posts to read them all. I use to ride a motorcycle. Those contraptions are DANGEROUS. I retired from driving or riding motorcycles after the "ramp incident".

A bike is only as dangerous as the operator. Unfortunately there are far too many riders in the two highest risk groups, young under 25's, and old over 45's, who should not be on the road. If everyone were required to take a motorcycle safety course, and then rode their bikes accordingly, their survival rates on the roads would be significantly increased, to the point where their chances of accident avoidance are significantly increased more so than if you were in a car. Needless to say Society can't prevent stupidity, and we will continue to see bikers not wearing full face helmets, not wearing full protective clothing from head to toe, continuing to consume alcohol and ride at night, and continuing to ride beyond their levels of skill. What really kills me is those dudes who are out there in T shirts, shorts and sandals. I guess it's a free country but i really dont agree that insurance companies and the health care system should be responsible for repairing these peoples road rash. Much as in Quebec, where all cars must have snows in winter, all motorcyclists should be required to wear proper protective gear. What really gets me even more is when adults put innocent and very vulnerable kids on the back of their bikes in similarly inadequate attire. If you want to mess with your own skin so be it, but have a little more respect for those who entrust their lives to you.

I'm surprised police have not arrested anyone yet in this incident. Once you id the deceased you should have a decent chance of figuring out what friend was the likely driver and then put them on the hot seat and see what happens.

If the driver gets caught he'll likely do a couple of years in jail for vehicular homicide or similar charges.

A witness says based on body profile and hands the driver of the motorcycle looked male and the passenger looked female and the driver was dive bombing in and out of lanes at 180 or 190 Km/ hour.
Witness account:

I don't think I've ever seen a male passenger on a motorcycle. It would look very gay and I would have remembered it.

“I suddenly saw body parts on the road,” Howey recalled. “I had to try to avoid them while not causing an accident,” she explained. “There was a head in a helmet on one side of me and part of a body on the other.” She thinks she may have run over an arm in her SUV.
A grizzly sight.

I don't like having the average male dipshit drive me on a highway in a car let alone a motorcycle. If I'm going on a freeway, I'm only comfortable when I'm the one driving. Me as a passenger with a woman driving? Forget about it. I'll hitch hike instead.

A motorcycle is WAY more dangerous than saying it is as 'dangerous as the operator"

You are wide open with no protection....ok a helmet....

but you can be as safe as you like....its the otehr drivers who are at your whim.

Its easy to say dont walk through a bush..cause you will get raped.

But if you walk through the bush and get raped...who is to blame.

THE RAPIST!!!

but alas your still raped.....

or in this case....DEAD!!!!

Yeah, I heard about it yesterday and read the article this morning. What kind of sick fuck would leave his passenger like that? This guy deserves major punishment. If it was up to me . . .

P.S. I also heard that a lot of gals go for joy rides when these racing motorcylists hang out at the local Timmies, so the passenger may not even have known the driver well who may have been proving how macho he was. He's the epitome of the ultimate coward and punk. Again, if it was up to me . . .

And you're only on two wheels. Little rocks, sticks, or other objects can seriously throw off your game on a bike. We all make mistakes while driving. The consequences of the same mistake made in a motorcycle is far greater than in a car.

Every biker that I know who is alive has the utmost "respect" for their vehicle. Stories about close calls, and physical scars to prove it. The instant you become arrogant or adventurous on a bike, it's lights out for you.

MY buddy hit a groundhog once....at about 70 k in mississauga. Ran right out in front of him.

He wobbled for an eternity he said...His adrenaline had never been higher......His heart was in his throat....He screamed....

but he saved it..and stayed upright.......

Sold the bike the next month!!!

Damn groundhogs.....they are dense......figuratively and literally :)

Yea, bikers are really at the mercy of people in cars when car drivers make mistakes like making unsafe left hand turns.
Here's a Greek woman who went through a red light in a youtube video that went viral:

Guy has really good athleticism to roll with it and land on his feet like that.

If it weren't for other drivers on the road, I would ride a motorcycle. I've always wanted to. But I don't want to put my life in the hands of other motorists. Is my life really worth losing because a woman doesn't know how to stop at a red light? Nah. At this point in my life, I'm healthy and I have everything to live for.

i am quite surprised no arrests have been made yet. im sure the c op managed to get the bikes tags? as for the car drivers. i would think if you ran over a body part at high speed there would be some evidence of that the next time u looked at your car. panick or not that rider is a heartless prick. i hope who ever the passenger was they have HA in there family and this guy actually gets some justice....

If the passenger had ID, they'll find the person riding the bike, no fuggin' doubt.

Most people in general are FUCKED UP.
To not stop and help the person, seriously?
I go out of my way to help animals without a hitch, a person layin' on the highway? Of course no question.

I wonder if they're having trouble determining the identity of the girl who was killed.
She's likely a bit of a wild girl to be on the backseat of a guy who would drive like that. She could be a 17 year old runaway from rural New Brunswick or Northern Ontario who got in over her head and paid the price.

And if the motorcycle driver just met her an hour or two earlier at a bar or a Tim Horton's they'll have a lot of trouble finding him.
