I'm looking to replace my inkjet that has recently died.
Wondering if I should stay with the same or go for a laser.
It will only be used to print documents not photos.

I'm also in need of a scanner/copier. (Been using a crappy fax machine for copies and don't have a scanner). Hence the thought of going for a multi-function laser. Or should I go with a two separate stand alone printer and scanner?

I would like some thoughts from those that get more use from these
machines than I have.
Thanks.

I have a combo unit (HP) and I am very satisfied with it so far. If you are just doing black and white printing go with a laser, if need color, inkjet might be your best bet

It's up to you to decide if you wanted an All-In-One printer/scanner/copier combo or separate equipments. The pro for the AIO is convenience and space saving. The con is that there are more thing for it to go wrong. If any one part of the combo breaks down, you might need to replace everything. Generally, the AIO are more expensive than the separate units.

For printing, go with the laser printer. As a rule, cost per printed page is cheaper with toner cartridge than ink cartridge.

If you wanted colour prints, I've even seen HP colour laser printer advertised for around $350.-.
