Perhaps they could hire more TTC Special Constables and arm them.

Some people have a problem with the idea of armed TTC Special Constables yet have no problem with armed Toronto Police getting OT money doing patrols on the TTC.
As long as they train them properly.

Except what are more constables going to do?

If someone is mentally ill they can't just boot them the ttc for erratic behaviour. And there aren't enough cops to follow them around while they ride the ttc all day.
You'd have to write some new laws so you can boot homeless people off the subway as well, if they say 'I'm just going to Kipling' how do you boot them off?

This is what the mother of the kid killed said:

"I am hoping that people will raise their voices so we can be heard. More needs to be done to help people in crisis. More needs to be done so that people don't get to the point where they are in crisis," she said.

"We need more social services. We need more investment into physical and mental health. We need more supports for housing. I feel like, as things go the way they are going right now, so many people are going to be suffering the horrible pain that I am going through right now."

"Honestly, I wanted to just hide in my bed and never get up again, but I am taking every ounce of strength I have left to just get his story out there."

It was explained to me that they really don't. Except arrest for crimes after the fact. Which really doesn't solve anything.
Some of them, especially the violent ones, can be confined on medical grounds and we, of course, have the Notwithstanding clause that can override judicial objections. As reported, this latest murderer, didn't need any of it- just an intelligent judge( I know, too much to ask un this country) to keep him bars.

The Toronto Sun reports that they have been tipped off that the scum bag murderer who killed the 16 year old young man is well known to police and has been arrested many many times for different offenses and was out on multiple releases.

Why does this not surprise me?

It is time that politicians and judges start being held to account for their decisions that have resulted in repeat violent crimes.

The suspect — identified as Jordan O’Brien-Tobin, 22, of no fixed address — faces a charge of first-degree murder.

“He’s currently out on numerous releases,” the police source said. “Probation, prohibited, bail … name it, he’s been released on it.”
