Well - that is your opinion. But FYI - rock isn't the only type of music

1.) hip hop
2.) rock
3.) Rhythm & Blues
4.) Reggae
5.) Alternative Rock
6.) Contemporary hip hop and r & b
7.) pop
8.) techno
9.) dancehall
10.) Blues
11.) jazz
12.) Punk Rock

& many many more.
Rock music from the 60's on till now, and rhythm and blues. If it's not ROCK, it's not music. Everything else is fucking garbage. But then there are a lot of people that like listening to garbage and then there is C rap. That shit shouldn't even be classed as music in any form.

Some stuff out ATM is complete garbage and manufactured to manipulate, control and resonate a particular response based on a formula that the music industry has determined will sell the most records...I am honestly sick of break up songs or he done we wrong Adele bullshit songs plus many follow same beat.

I find the best songs are the ones that are universal, timeless and have some sort of love element in it even if unrequited w/o the break he/she done me wrong bullshit.

Although there is a lot of garbage gaining popularity such as this video below...there are still some underground artists that are pure genius like Sickick. I think music is an important aspect to overall well being and definitely sets the mood and helps sell the fantasy before the session. The type of music I like before the session is usually edgy, and makes me feel the taboo from this industry like Trey Songs https://youtu.be/dXTBbM21plg

For jokes here is an example of really bad music gaining popularity due to social media hype...

Back in the 6ix
Can anybody actually play an instrument these days? Most of the new stuff is all created using computer software and now anybody can call themselves a musician.
I play drums but used to play piano and strings... sure you could say that but I know musicians that lay down tracks in the studio that is transformed analog to digital all the time. Anyone can sit down with ProTools and put something together but if you don't have the musicality it's going to sound like shit. For example, if your doing the drum track you can used a presampled beat from ToonTracks or BFD ... or you could have a drummer come in and lay down something funky at first on either acoustic, possibly triggered, or on an electronic Roland kit and then you can play and edit it to what you desire afterwards... the sound difference is noticeable.

As for my preference.. my parents always loved music and my dad bought records that influenced me in all genres of music from a very early age. My friends early on were always going to the record shops back then so there was always new material. Then there were the music lessons every week and my music teachers introduced me to even more. Then came the band era and meeting many other musicians... what they listened to and what they played.

So for myself I can't tell you what music exactly but anything from the 50s to early 2000s gets me going ... Rock to jazz to metal to pop ... however not a fan of edm. But I should add that classical and operas are among my favs.

For a session whatever gets her in the mood.

Nice . That is so cool that you used to play piano and the strings. Musicians sell their beats all the time... they are constantly in the studios working with producers . I have to agree that lot of what my mom listened to influenced what I listened too. I also took music classes. I learned to play the recorder but my main passion was drama class or choir. I was in the school choir all the way up until grade 7. My favorite type of music ever was early hip hop & r & b . Their beats were amazing and the lyrics actually meant something. I haven't really heard anything from the 50's but anything from the late 80's- early 2000's was my type of music.
