Both of them have massive egos, so it was only a matter of time. But whereas Trump is trying to gain wealth and power for himself, Musk seemingly has some noble intentions. I think he genuinely wanted to save America from it's looming fiscal cliff, only for his efforts to be dashed by the very guy he helped get elected. That would sting for anyone, but doubly so for an ego like Musk's.

If Musk had noble intentions, he would use a fraction of his wealth to actually do good in the world. He'd be feeding the hungry, building libraries, paying workers properly, rather than, well, everything he's actually doing.

Yet Bill Gates gets crucified by the angry MAGA folks for doing exactly this.

This will be an entertaining battle. I believe it's the first time Trump vs a rich fucker with fuck you money and a social media platform behind him. I bet Trump will be going after Musk's investments hard and using the government's full power with his simps in office to do so.

Nice sentiment but Musk is now purely driven by ego and celebrity.

Prior to this development, he has (to my knowledge) ever done anything with his massive wealth in any charitable manner. Unlike, say, Bill Gates. No pledge to give away much of his fortune before/when he dies like other billionaire pledges.

He has donated a fraction of his wealth to doing good in the world. Just because he's not supporting specific causes you brought up, doesn't mean that's not the case.
I also don't know what you mean about "paying workers properly" when SpaceX and Tesla have competitive wages.

Unlike Trump, who primarily made his wealth in real estate, or else in ripping off people on name recognition, many of Musk's business ventures actually benefit society. Tesla made EV tech viable, and has been instrumental in getting the necessary infrastructure out there to convince many people to adopt an EV. Not to mention their contribution to other green energy initiatives. Then throw in the fact that SpaceX has revitalized the space industry, and made the U.S. less reliant on Russia...who isn't exactly a reliable partner. You also have the fact Tesla will be heavily involved in AI, and Musk is notably a proponent for responsible AI research, rather than the unfettered research some are pushing.

There's heavy investment in Neuralink as well, which has real potential to solve, or at least better, many of the health ailments that plague us.

Don't get me wrong, Musk has a lot of problematic personality traits, but he's done more good for the world than most, maybe all, people in my lifetime.

Surely, you are not naive enough to believe all that?
Tesla is known to be a toxic work place with excessive workload.
Building an EV business is also not a service to the community.
No one talks about the harm Lithium mining and disposal of dead batteries has on the environment while they are busy trashing fossil fuels.
Musk initially invested in OpenAI but I believe far more companies are ahead of Musk in AI research.
Neuralink doesn't appear too successful either.
A month after surgery 85% of the device's threads apparently detached from the patient's brain significantly reducing its effectiveness.
Even if they were to succeed in the future, I won't be holding my breath.
Same with inhabitation of Mars.
Anyone who knows the most basic stuff about planets knows that Mars is uninhabitable and we don't remotely have the technology to make it a viable place to live.
What an amazing trade that would be, leaving Earth, with all its natural beauty and free air, and go to uninhabitable Mars where you depend on Elon for breathable air. lmfao.
Musk is all about overpromising and under delivering.
He is as much a con man as Trump.
