Muslims take to the streets in anger after Quebec’s move to ban public prayer

Display of piety in public space is not illegal even if it is not
recognized as a basic human right. Unless Muslims are the
only ones banned from public prayer religious folks with no
specific affiliation with organized religions may face difficulty
finding a church or temple to communicate with their gods.
It is a blatant violation of the right to the freedom of expression
of religious belief to ban public prayer.
If you block streets, go into private property, and or impede access to the general public there are laws yes.

does anyone know what would happen if you took a bible and read it in a Muslim country in public? try the middle east to begin with... leave alone making the sign of the cross in public.. now imagine if you had a bible and tried to pray outside the mosque in the country they came from...

Gathering in public space is not against the law although I believe
there are restrictions on the number of people in the event. Invasion
of private property is illegal of course.
Right. But that not what they are doing. They are causing a public disturbance but willfully trying to impedevaccess to public streets by car traffic in some cases, or to incite a riot outside a church. There are laws about this for a reason.

I have no issues with a street preacher in the public square. Or buying ads. Or going on public airwaves. But don't be the asshole.

I am generally for keeping religion out of all spaces, and I believe religion should stay in your place of worship and in your home.
But I mean they are praying.
Is that any worse than the Charlie Kirks of the world poisoning the minds of the youth with their "ChRiStIaN nAtIoNaLiSm"?
They should make that illegal too by the way.
1st you're talking religion...
Charlie Kirk was welcoming debates not trying to start a cult...lmao.

Religions are not cults either.
He was cherry picking opponents and browbeating them with rehearsed talking points.
That is not a debate.
Other than that, the Christian Nationalist group is objectively more harmful than a bunch of Muslim civilians praying in front of a church, even if it is to spite Christianity.

We must not look to countries less developed and more backward as our
teachers. We can do better than them to protect the rights of those in our
country.

Actually i was not comparing countries less developed than North America.. The Gulf is more advanced than us in a lot of ways.. Yes we can do better than them i acknowledge this fact and proud of it. However asking us to keep a blind eye when i have experienced this does not really sit well with me..

Canada, Dominion if Canada, former British colony Canada … was built on Judaeo- Christian beliefs.

from what I’ve seen Christians here don’t protest in the streets for religious courts (sharia) or require norms to change because of their religious laws.

kids get nasty letters home to parents who lack them ham and cheese sandwiches because pork is “haram”

Pray all you want. Don’t they have Mosques?
If it’s not clear to you. Public Muslims praying in front if Notre Dame cathedral is foreshadowing of they day that they pray IN it.
So you think only Muslims shouldn't be allowed to pray in public.
Got it.

Religion is the polite term for a cult.

If you come to Canada as a Immigrant, its your job to embrace Canadian values. Its not Canada's job to bend to yours. (y)
