Now that Mr. Roszko's horrific actions in Alberta have demonstrated the profound wisdom of gun registration at the trifling cost of only 1 to 2 billion dollars, I suggest that yesterday's terrible triple stabbing deaths in Ottawa make it desirable to take the next step and immediately enact legislation requiring the registration of all knives and knife owners. Given that the number of knives in the community greatly exceeds the number of guns, the cost may be expected to be proportionally higher but well worth it if we save the life of even one innocent person.

So what if Toronto police don't even have the budget to operate a helicopter ( while Durham does), or that they would rather have some of the firearm registry costs allocated to front-line officers and proper equipment, what do they really know anyway? Wouldn't we all sleep better knowing that the only people having knives will be the criminal element?

Tell me again, please, how to spell SARCASM.

I sincerely mean no disrespect to the victims of crime, or the police who are given a thankless, difficult and dangerous job, only to the near sighted, knee-jerk reactions of those who make our laws with little understanding of the consequences.

Waste of My Money!

The registration only has kept honest people honest - it has done nothing other than that.

This money would have been better spent of new officers, better legislation and a big prison for dangerous offenders (or persons that use a weapon in a crime), in Nunavat - where it's to far to have visitors and if you escape your a walking polar bear snack.

Super idea sir! A man after my own heart indeed. Let's register EVERYTHING that is potentially lethal. Gee, even better let's just pass a law making it illegal to do anything illegal - that should fix up everything. And let's make Bobbi illegal too - now there IS a lethal weapon.

It's amazing how our own politicians have us thinking they way they do; with bandaid solutions.

I believe Red meant take away all the guns - which would be a huge mistake.

1). Pit Bulls; how do we tell the half breeds? Are they, and will they be under the same legislation as pedigree dogs? Who's gonna be able to tell and enforce?

2). Bar owners; not being able to decide if their establishment will be smoking or non-smoking.
