I recently got into this hobby and trying to find a false proof way to keep my communication with sp and agency discreet without raising my significant other’s suspicion. I looked into 2nd phone like burner phone and getting a 2nd phone number but it is a bit inconvenient. I tried various app, but TextNow is the best I found since it is totally free for calling and txting function, and you can have multiple numbers with multiple emails.
I also figure out way to make the phone app disappear without deleting it so if your SO if playing around with your phone, she will never notice it. Please note that I use a Samsung galaxy S8 phone, this may not work with iPhone.

Using AppLock to set your password or pattern to access TextNow app
Go to Settings then Tap on Display, Scroll down and tap on Home screen, Tap on Hide App. Pick TextNow ap to hide it from your phone
If you need to use the app TextNow, you can only find it by typing and searching TextNow using the search toggle. The app will never show up on your phone app screen to tap on
Once your find the app by searching, you have to unlock it with the password or pattern you set earlier to access the app
This way your SO will never see the app appearing on your phone. And if for some reason your SO search for the app and find it, she can only open it if she knows the password or pattern you set. I also use this to hide my secondary internet browsing app like firefox so I can browsing sp websites or terbs forum using my main phone.
