Correct, it was a dud. I'm sure they'll try and try again until they're convinced it can land on US soil.
Or until they get some 'payoff money' not to....;)

There is no need to fear North Korea. North Korea is completely under the control of China. China uses N. Korea to create "strategic tension" in the world that it can exploit. It uses this to exert it's power without direct confrontation. Frankly the west falls RIGHT into the trap. There is no reason to fear N. Korea. Any genuine attack would not be in China's strategic interest. They are just jangling our chain.

Hirofumi Nakasone, the Japanese Foreign Minister, said “The Security Council should respond properly and teach North Korea a lesson that it has to pay for the act of provocation, if violations are allowed the Security Council’s authority would be threatened and trust placed upon it would be damaged."

The Japanese Minister then burst out laughing and said " a little bit late for April fool!!!"

We should just use classic clinton-era retaliation with stealths and cruise missiles to smash up infrastructure and military facilities. Unlike Iraq, N.Korea is DIRT POOR so losing expensive facilities might actually have a lasting sting. Or unilaterally let Japan off the "defensive only" treaty hook and watch N.K. piss themselves...

Sounds like you are not aware of the history of the region. The Japanese do not take it lightly
