Cool off everyone....
Everyone is basing their critisism on the fact that Bama struggled in the Mississippi state game...granted, they did have trouble scoring points (touchdowns) but there were some weird moments (bad spot in the second quarter that would have given bama the ball at the 10) and some turnovers that are uncharacteristic, still, Bama was never in any danger of losing that game since State could not move the ball at all in the second half. Bama has not given up points in the third quarter all year. They shut down Florida and Tennessee, and the defense has scored several times this year. This is not an effort to make excuses, but without Prothro they have lost a great talent. That is the effect of losing scholarships; your season hangs on a few injuries.
LSU may win this game. If they do, they will have to score on the nation's best defense. If Croyle and the receivers can hook up a few times and the running game can help control the clock, Bama should be able to keep it low scoring and close. In that case, they have the advantage in field-goal kickers with Christianson. It will be a nail-biter and I am not looking forward to it the way I was after the Florida game. We will see what they are really made of. I am still predicting a Bama win (line is LSU -3, I would take that...I think Bama wins by 3, possibly on last-minute field goal). This will be the game that defines Bama's season and whether or not they are really back. I hope they are; I believe in Mike Shula and Joe Kines...we shall see.
