How to find Auburn

Go south until you smell it,
then east until you step in it.

LOL !!!

Yea Alabama! Drown'em Tide.
Ev'ry Bama man's behind you
Hit your stride!
Go teach the Bulldogs to behave
Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave.
And if a man starts to weaken,
That's his shame!
For Bama's pluck and grit have writ her name in
'Crimson Flame.
Fight on! Fight on, men!
Remember the Rose Bowl, we'll win then.
Go roll to victory! Hit your stride!
You're Dixie's football pride, Crimson Tide!

I was in grad school in Birmingham during the '92 championship run and rode back in the convoy from the Sugar Bowl in January 1993.

The defense has kept them in the hunt, but it will be hard to remain undefeated without Tyrone Prothro -- Alabama has always had great under-rated receivers who have never gotten much play (Cross, Palmer, etc.) nationally but are serious difference makers. I hope someone can step up -- Shula needs to learn he is not in the Pros anymore and he can take his starters out when he has the game won. Injuries have stifled them in the past (last year Brody got put out for the year by the 40 yard line and I can't understand how Tyrone's leg got destroyed on that play, even though there was some impact...I guess it is all in the way you fall).

Anyway, Roll Tide Roll; Miss. State will go down fairly easily, but LSU and Auburn will be tough. If we can get past them, Georgia has not impressed me, especially without their starting quarterback (who may be back). The Bama "D" has been the most consistent thing in the SEC this year and hopefully can carry them .... the running game is starting to click also and the line is playing better, so we'll see. 12-0 can turn into 9-3 in a hurry in the SEC.

Well actually, I'm just a fan of college football, especially schools with rich tradition. So Alabama is ONE of my faves, but with three cousins who went to UM, Michigan is my number one. My own alma mater is Western Ontario.

I've been to Tuscaloosa but the Tide was away, so I didn't get a chance to see a game. Sounds as if you went there during a very special time. I fondly remember that championship. :)

Miss State is giving them first half fits today -- what's happened to the offence??? But what a dreadful call by the refs at the end of the half when the Tide should have had a first down at the 10. They had a first down before fumbling but the zebras blew it...Grrrr...

I'm rooting for you Winston

I've been to four Bama/ND games. They are the best fans bar none. Hopefully Doogie can keep things going but you need to find a way to score on offense. If you don't make it to the promised land, just beat the "tubby one" will ya!

PS- In 1973 it was

Roll Tide Roll
Roll Tide Roll
Around The Bowl
And Down The hole
Roll Tide Roll :p

One of us is an alumnus and one of us has been a fan for over 30 years, hardly jumping on the bandwagon. As for Florida, they already played Bama and..........got smoked 31-3. :)

Blow out

Yes, the Florida players predicted a blow-out. They were right. They "smoked" us all right....

Bama has given up an average of less than 7 points a game all year. UT beat LSU, Florida has beaten UGA. Bama beat both these teams. We will see who will smoke whom.

Crimson diapers? :p
If Bama wins their next two and then loses the SEC Championship Game, it looks like it it could be ND/Bama in the Fiesta Bowl. You'll have to really D it up then. :)

Cool off everyone....

Everyone is basing their critisism on the fact that Bama struggled in the Mississippi state game...granted, they did have trouble scoring points (touchdowns) but there were some weird moments (bad spot in the second quarter that would have given bama the ball at the 10) and some turnovers that are uncharacteristic, still, Bama was never in any danger of losing that game since State could not move the ball at all in the second half. Bama has not given up points in the third quarter all year. They shut down Florida and Tennessee, and the defense has scored several times this year. This is not an effort to make excuses, but without Prothro they have lost a great talent. That is the effect of losing scholarships; your season hangs on a few injuries.

LSU may win this game. If they do, they will have to score on the nation's best defense. If Croyle and the receivers can hook up a few times and the running game can help control the clock, Bama should be able to keep it low scoring and close. In that case, they have the advantage in field-goal kickers with Christianson. It will be a nail-biter and I am not looking forward to it the way I was after the Florida game. We will see what they are really made of. I am still predicting a Bama win (line is LSU -3, I would take that...I think Bama wins by 3, possibly on last-minute field goal). This will be the game that defines Bama's season and whether or not they are really back. I hope they are; I believe in Mike Shula and Joe Kines...we shall see.
