Unfortunately they have left out a few things. Two of them is their plan to increase CPP and EI benefits, this will mean increases in payroll taxes for both workers and the employers.

Hmmm.... Raise the taxes on the employers during the recession and hit the middle class right in the teeth by increasing taxes(that's what rolling back TFSAs and income splitting is called). All because they want to blow that cash on "infrastructure" and government babysitting. I have a better idea. Make child care expenses tax deductible for the families under 150k. No need for a national program, thousands of new government workers; no need to fuck all taxpayers for another wet dream. These people are clueless.

ccp and ei payroll taxes were increased in the mid to late 90,s..did the sky fall, chicken little?

It certainly did not help our manufacturing sector, did it? Or am I missing something?

Point I'm making is Mulcairs promise not to raise personal taxes. Payroll taxes are part of that.

Let's see increased expenses of billions of dollars per year through new programs & reduced revenues through tax reductions for everybody plus increased revenue by taxing all corporations just a little tiny bit more takes us from a Harper deficit to a Mulcair surplus of several billion dollars per year. Now with careful budgeting and controlling my expenditures I can break even financially each year. Now I find I'm doing everything wrong. I can get rich following the NDP Plane. First of all I have to ask my pension provider to reduce my monthly pension and cut the payments from my RRIF to reduce my overall income (revenue). Then I undertake new programs like buying a new car each year, upgrades to my house, travel around the world, eat out at the finest restaurants 4 nights per week. Within a year I will have an annual cash surplus of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Hell, wish I had known about this plan years ago.

the right and the left on this board can argue until they are blue in the face about who wants to lower/raise taxes, whether a surplus in a recession is a good thing, whether the candidates are lying about their promises......the election, in my view, comes down to this..as a voting group if Canadians have grown tired of Harper and feel he has worn out his welcome, he is gone, the voters just have to sort out who becomes PM.....if they have not quite become sick and tired of him, he wins a minority

On the other hand electing Mr. My Government Will NEVER Run Deficits has proven to be classic Bait and Switch.

Something along the lines of: 'Always a BBBJ' in the ad, but "Oh No, I didn't expect one so Biiiggg!" at the door. And when the same sucker comes around again, "Oh, so sorry, it just isn't big enough to bother with."

It is so much more than that & I certainly hope the average voter puts more thought into their decision than you will

On BBBJ or running a surplus? Because I don't remember Mulcair offering BBBJs ��

If one the other hand you mean the surplus, yes, they've left themselves alot of cushion just in case the unexpected arise. Barring Acts of Gods, I'm certain the NDP will balance it budget.

Increasing corporate taxes is a job killer

You can trot out a hundred BS studies by the loonie left saying it is not, however the fact remains higher taxes takes more cash flow from the pie leaving less to hire new employees , train them and or investing in the business.
Mulclairs plan is flawed

Higher taxes are not the answer
The answer is smaller, more efficient government

Did you believe Harper's 'never'? What was 'oh but these deficits are different' sauce for Harper's goose is surely going to be exactly the same for Mulcair's gander if circumstances warrant. I'm constantly hearing they did for Mr. Never.

Why would you imagine the NDP would hew to an even more fiscally conservative standard than Our Dear Conservative-as-they-come-Leader? And even he lied to us, didn't he?
