Oh, such bad legal advice.

Getting the cops to the door does nothing, they can't enter without your roommate's permission. This is a civil, not criminal matter.
I am not sure cops need permission to enter the house to resolve a domestic dispute.
In any event they can talk to both parties without actually entering the house. I am almost certain the cops would help him out of this mess.

Police need reasonable cause. A landlord/tenant dispute is not criminal, therefore does not give cause.
In domestic disputes, they ask the homeowner for permission to enter premises. Most would allow cops in worry they've something to hide. Probably cause only if they were to charge him with something.

Like Fred say they can talk at the door and presuade him to let her get belonging. They deal with bad BF/GF breakups all the time. Depends on cop's mood, some may not have patience for long drawn out bargaining.

I spoke to someone who's gone through pretty much the same situation, He said when i call they'll send the sheriff over (eventually) he was to wait over an hour. Then they're going to take our statements, and I'm most likely going to be let in. SO i'll be sure to have a truck so i can move as much of my things as possible. Because i dont want to go back there again.

AND I CAN'T COME OVER WEARING KNEE PADS THEY'RE LOCKED IN THE APARTMENT DAMMIT. TOPLESSS I CAN DO.
you dont know how much it sucks wearing the same 3 outfits for 2 weeks...i just want my clothes and my bed back!!!! but most of all i want my photo albums. If i find those missing i'll be an angry girl

What? You're supposed to have more than 3 outfits? Does this apply to men as well as ladies? Hell, I think I need to go on that show on TLC "what not to wear" LOL

If they send the sheriff over make sure Festus isn't with him, that guy is as useless as tits on a bull.....

If this is in a rental building, and you know that the guy will be out during the day at work, why could you not go to the superintendent and ask them to call a locksmith to open the door. Or you could just open the door with the help of a crowbar. You would have cancelled cheques, and other information to show you live there, so I doubt you can be charged with breaking in to your own property, but you might want to check first.

My landlord cant do anything because technically im not his tenant as im not on the lease. he also doesnt have a copy of the keys. I dont want to break in cuz im not sure if that would fall under breaking and entering. Im going saturday to deal with it. Hopefully it'll all get sorted out it's a hassle cuz im not staying down town so its a bit of a long haul for me to get there. It's a huge metal door. a crowbar wont be able to open it

I recently had to call the police on a matter, make sure you do it early before they get really busy....else you could wait for hours.

I know, my friend who went through something similar said it took quite a while for the sheriff to get there, over an hour. SO i'll call them when i'm on the way there.

This is all going down tomorrow so wish me luck!!

I WILL NO LONGER BE A SLAVE TO WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES EVERYDAY
oh and my comfy bed would be nice too

Since you've had lots of pseudo legal advice, Ill take the immature low road. I just finished reading your "best sex ever" thread and I have to say,I think I'm with Goober in the regurgitated chunk feeling. However, I suggest you take that "cum filled condom trophy" (no matter how sentimental im sure it is to you) and threaten a cum bombing like no one has ever seen! (or seen for the first time) CuteCob will just have to suck it up and replace it with another round for you. BTW its nice to hear CC finally "dove into" the hobby after talking about it for years. Atta boy!

Just because there's nothingh on paper doesn't mean a sublet or tenancy agreement can't be construed bu hosuing authorities or courts.

Your immediate concern is for your belongings, but don't forget to make sure this bum gets screwed for this. Formalize your complaint, report him to authorities, he may be renting illegaly - the place may not conform to standards for renting out. If there's no written agreement he may not be reporting the rent income, try to rat him out.

The most important thing is getting my stuff. The things i can't replace like pictures and journals, and things i've written (im a nerd and i write alot).
I went today and waited 4 hours for the cops, then the asshole had to take off to go to work so nothing got resolved. :( it's frustrating. I just don't understand how someone i considered to be one of my best friends could ever be so cruel

Sadly, going to the police is alway a roll of the dice. Your chances of getting action have little to do with law and mostly depend on the personal ethics and whims of the detective you deal with. This is especially true for women.

I guess you would have been better of lying about being his girlfriend and saying he got abusive and threw you out without your things. Unfortunately, this is often the only way for a woman to get cops to do anything.

You may have better luck just by trying a different detective on a different shift. Go with a witness next time. Have a sworn statement signed by a JP ready. I once made York take a 9 month old fraud case for a girl after they had refused her several times.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd say if he has your possessions and won't allow you to get them, it's theft. Call the police if you have to.
I see fault on both parties, but keeping your belongings can't be done no matter what rent disagreements you both have.
