So what's in for this season? I'm looking at business casual and above. Things on my list so far includes a trench coat and a leather jacket. Where do I get a trench coat?

RW&CO has really nice v neck sweaters and cardigans for men too!

Winners, is a good place to shop, for this type of clothing. They have a good section for men's apparel.
They were simply suggestions? I never said anything about a need for items to be expensive.
Club Monaco and Banana Republic aren't bad in terms of pricing, but looking at what they have I still prefer Harry Rosen in terms of style.
For menswear, same! Brooks Brothers tends to pleasantly surprise me from time to time too.

Leather in the US is 50% or less than what you would pay in Canada. I Porter over to Montreal for a day trip ( old home town ) once a month for business reasons. For business casual there is Boutique Jacques on Cote de Neige where you can pick up a Calvin Klein suit for what you would pay at Moores. Ralph Lauren suits go for $425.

Bad advice. More bad advice is to have a woman dress you.Best bet is to ask a gay guy. I'm serious.
Pick up the Esquire book on how to build a wardrobe. It covers the basics and you can do it inexpensively. I would never recommend a leather jacket, but if that is your look, go for it.
If you are in decent shape and buying off the rack, get a good tailor. You are much better off buying mid range clothing and having it tailored than something expensive off the rack. Fit is everything.
Oh yeah, buy beautiful shoes. Nice shoes are not just for women, and they can be a deal breaker. You can have the most beautiful clothes in the world, and bad shoes will destroy the look.
So true. Chicks absolutely look at a man's shoes. Chicks in civvie life, at work, and many a SP and MPA have noted my choice in footwear.
OP: I would recommend a nice pair of casual dress boots from places like Aldo and Steve Madden. Affordable and will work at the office as well as a night on the town.
