 I was surfing and I saw that you could get a 30 day trial from my oem version of Nero 6 to Nero 7. So being a dummy, I thought lets give it a try. So I download a 30 day demo version. Anyway, I took an instant dislike to it. I was burning some torrents, I like to make up a back up copy (15 cents/disc). 7 said I couldn't do this. On 6 I could. So I want to get rid of this, I went to add/remove, clicked show updates and low and behold there was no update for Nero. The bastards! So I emailed their 3 day wait tech support and said, "wtf"! They sent me this bull shit about downloading some file to erase all the Nero from my system, go to their website and download Nero 6 and enter my serial number. I also asked them what would happen if I waited the 30 days, would my system be restored. Now, you have to understand, I barely get by on computers. Anyway, I sent them an email back saying, "wtf" and will my system be restored. I got a reply asking me not to be rude, and that he didn't answer my question because it was "illogical" and of course it wouldn't be restored. Well fuck off Mr Spock! So anyways by a fluke, I did write my serial number down. After I downloaded the trial version there was no serial number to be found.
So now my trial has expired and it left me with no functioning Nero. So I will go and uninstall Nero completely from my system and hopefully get lucky and reinstall what I had. Anyway, the bottom line is fuck Nero and their arrogant attitude and please be careful before doing any trial upgrades. They try to force you buying the upgrade. Just trying to send a warning to all the
Terbites, I hope this may help at least one person.

As long as you have the original program or install CD, you should be able to simply remove the updated version and reinstall the older version. I've done this many times in the past if I didn't like the updated version and wanted to go back to the previous copy.

If you don't have a CD to install the old version try Google.
There are sites that have old versions of programs for this purpose.
If you find it, just make sure you save that download for future reference.

Thanks Woodpeckr. I am okay now. It is frustrating how these companies try to ram things down your throat. It is like when the cable companies upgrade you unless you call them. I believe this is illegal now but should apply to computers too. There are a lot of people out there who have no clue how to use there back up disc, etc. It just wrong for these guys to do what they do. Sorry just ranting.

Out of the tens of thousands of '30 day trial' software available on the internet, I don't know of one that will magically disappear and restore your system after the 30 days is up.

"Show updates" under Add/Remove Programs shows your Windows 'operating system' updates. Not program updates.

"They try to force you buying the upgrade." Huh????? How so? If you've documented this, charge them with extortion!!!!!!!!!!

"It is frustrating how these companies try to ram things down your throat." You were surfing, came across some trial software, and YOU freely chose to download and install it.

"It just wrong for these guys to do what they do." When you decided you didn't like the software they offered you for free to try, they told you how to get rid of it. How is that wrong?

"the bottom line is fuck Nero and their arrogant attitude" I don't think Nero is the one with the attitude problem.

Sorry, I think it was wrong because they assumed I knew how to restore my system. I didn't and I am sure there are a lot of other people who don't either. I had to spend a lot of time to restore my system. Also, for $80. US it was not worth the money for the extras that I would never use. After the 30 day trial they should have asked if I wanted to buy, if no the have a button to click to remove what they installed. I think this is a common courtesy. But instead it comes up and says buy or you can't use our product, even though I had paid for what I had.

The download is a 'standalone' version of Nero and not an 'update'.
Maybe you didn't remove Nero 6 before installing 7, causing a version conflict in the program files. I don't know why else it wouldn't allow you to burn some torrents. Nero 7 should have showed up in 'Add/Remove Programs' as "Nero 7 Ultra Edition trial" allowing you to remove it.
I think either you didn't remove Nero 6 first, or you have something else funky going on in your system.

Sorry, I was incorrect, it was not an update, but an upgrade! It was free to try for 30 days, so I thought I would check it out thinking it would restore my system. My mistake I agree, but I didn't see any fine print saying there was no easy way to go back. I am sure for you and a lot of other people it would be easy, but for me and I am sure for a lot of others it is a challenge. I do appreciate your feedback. It will make me think before I do something like this again.
